My boy had his first "sports" injury

    Another milestone gone....

He was playing on the trampoline and tore his ankle ligaments with a possible hairline fracture. He is hobbling around on crutches like a little trooper. He is only nine and never even complained about it.

    I am so proud!!!!!

I had a similar injury when I was 14. Well, it involved a fast break, a slam, and falling after hanging on the rim. Oh, and did involve a fracture of the ankle.

I've got a 9 year old and he cries when you look at him wrong. I wanted him to play football, but that hurts too much dad.

ouch.....I did that about 3 years ago and it still hurts every now and than. I was running full speed, rolled my foot. Than I tried to be the tough guy, walked it off and played basketball for about 1/2 an hour and than rolled on it again. Ow is all I can say...the doc said it would have been better if I had broken it.

            Magman... not cool...

A nine year old kid deserves to make his decisions without you feeling the need to comment on how much of a wuss he is. He's only nine. When I was nine, the last thing I wanted to do was play football. Not specifically because it hurt, but because I don't see the point in getting hurt just to run a ball down the field. Basketball or baseball are two perfectly fine options. Another fine option is not to play sports at all.

Also afortuna, I don't mean to come into your life and make judgements, but you should NEVER make your son feel bad when you "look at him wrong". Your son should know that you'll always be there for him, and you'll never hurt him. It might have just been a figure of speech, but I can't begin to think of the sadness I would have if my parents hadn't cared for me so well.

Sorry for the rant, touched a nerve... I don't even know why this is sensitive for me... it just is.

Let me know if this is out of line...
you know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...
