Today i rode the 2006 Hotter than hell
it was, well, really hot.
I got into wichita falls yesterday around 5, after a 2 and a half hour ride in the car with my brother and father. We waited in line for an hour to get our registration packets. After that we went to the bike show (i guess you call it?) basically a big room with alot of people and a bnch of bike stuff. We were then tired enough to go to bed, so we went to the shepard in (hotel on the base) and ended up waking up at 4:40, got ready, then at the track at 5:45 or so. at 7:00 we sang the national anthem, jets flew over, and the starting cannon went off. It was about 40 minutes before we went anywhere, and then it wasnt very fast for another 20 minutes. After it thinned out we got up to our speed of around 21 miles an hour for the first 50 miles or so with only stopping once for water. The ambulance went past us a few times :-/ but we didnt get hurt.
There was one point in the race, though, at about 5 miles to go, where both of my legs cramped at the same time, i fell over and rolled off the shoulder of the road. we werent going very fast (thank god) and it took me a few minutes to recoup.
so the 63 mile ride was pretty good, and i just told you all about it. There was a thread i had that was stickied for suporting the livestrong foundation, but that didnt work out very well. Im more of an idea man than a go do it man. Next year i plan to do the full 100 miles, with more time to train of course
