My first car was a 87 Dodge Shadow... Talk about a slow car, I didnt like it back then, but now I see why my parents would let me drive something like that... its plain slow, and will keep me from getting to many tickets. Infact I have only recieved one ticket in my whole life.. I was going 72 in a 55, thing is, I was driving a Chevrolet Metro. Talk about a small underpowered car, so it doesnt matter what type of car you are driving, you can and will get pulled over. I used to be really into the import scene, until I watched one of my friends get creamed in one the worst car accidents I have ever witnessed, losing one of my best friends was very hard, I cant even imagine how his parents feel. After that incident I went and bought a truck. Now I feel safer.

I'd go along with the parents on this one. Sounds like there's some red flags going up on the condition of the car, let alone how many you've aleady had. Get something reliable and in decent shape that is stock. Once you're doing modifications to a car such as bolt on, all you're doing is creating a bigger headache. Computerized engines are not mean to be changed without computer changes and what not. I've built engines from lawn mowers on up to 400hp V8's for my vehicles. As far as power goes, I view it as what you grew up with. My dad has always driven cars with a v8 and I have never had trouble with the law driving them. That's all I've driven, from a Station Wagon to a Trans Am.

And like 9868Classic said, you have pretty much your whole life ahead of you. Would you rather be spending your adolesence paying for insurance and car repairs or your paintball addiction?

did he get one of his tickets parking on the wrong side of the street when he took that picture?

If you're buying the car/insurance, get what you want. If your parents are, then you just gotta deal.

You're 16 and getting it with a loan solely in your name?

Well, that surely what his post seems to imply. I mean, why should his parents have any say.

Oh, wait... I have a guess

Dude, buy/drive a cheap, easy on gas beater. Why are you paying a lease on an automobile?

God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.
