well i got to thinking the other day...and in about 8th grade we made little motors in woodshop. you take a metal rod and make a cross with it by poking it through wood, wrap it in wire and a metal strip then place it in between 2 attracting magnets. then you hook up a 9volt batter to wires, and touch it to the metal strip. slowly the peice of wood and metal start to spin. couldn't we use the exact same concept to spin a driveshaft? i personaly think that magnetic cars (even tho ups will be doing a trial run of them in deliver trucks) are the most overlooked alternate fuel option. what do you guys think?

dont know a thing about this subject, but im going to take a gander and say that if we can propel roller coasters to 100 mph in seconds using magnets. why could we not feasibly make you average cars engine? even if it was a hybrid such as battery and magnets. but this time the battery starts the car and magnatizes the magnets to get the car going then while at speeds to rotation of the cam builds up energy and reenergizes the battery.

thats what an electric motor is. its just this one doesnt have a shell aroud it and is home-made.
