I'll be walking to German 101, and I will be stopping at exactly 0846, I don't care where I am. I'll probably bow my head and say a little prayer. That'd be a nice addition for everyone to do.

Great idea actually. Why don't we post people whom we want to be prayed for that were either lost or lost someone 5 years ago? Tomorrow morning, everyone can keep one of or all of those people in their prayers as they pause for a minute. You don't have to post names if you don't want to.

I'd like to pray for my Uncle's friend and co-worker, a Naval Intelligence Officer whose Pentagon office was the point of impact.

I'd also like to pray for my fellow alumni from my highschool who were killed while interning and working in the towers.

      a little angry

Even as the president lay the wreaths at Ground Zero, crowds of protesters calling for a US withdrawal from Iraq had gathered nearby.

I feel that was not the time nor the place to protest.

It's just as bad as when the gay teenager in Wyoming was tortured and killed by some goons. Then when his funeral was going on people marched with "he's going to Hell" signs.

Show respect where respect is deserved.
          Sorry, I'm old

id say be thankful that your given the chance to protest at all, and do it another time.

expecially not when you have thousands of new yorkers ready to kick you in the balls for being insensitive.

Didn't see anyone complaining when it was made, straight after it all happened, show some respect!
Nerves were very raw when it was made. Pulling up a spelling mistake doesn't take away from the meaning behind the site. Remember I am English and sure it has an effect on me but a much greater one on YOU and your country. My country has lived alongside terrorism for many years for you it is still a new expirience.

I made this thread out of respect for those who lost their lives

Dont talk to me about respect, pride, or anything else.

I lost family that day, as well as countrymen.

I was simply pointing out a typo, and you try to justify it with nerves, and then put me out to be disrespectful.

                  Dont even.

See what I mean about things being raw, there was no need to mention the typo, all that did was come across as insensitive despite what you have now said had happened to you.
So take this thread in the way it was intended and not treat it as an opportunity to rag on the sentiment as THAT IS how it came across.
I linked to a tribute site (from the time) and all you had to say was look at the typo. and then when pulled up on it you get indignant.

On another note, thanks for starting the thread MarkM. It means a lot that one of our friends from the UK did it. It's nice to know that in a world full of change and uncertainty, there are some friendships that last forever.

May they all rest in peace and may all religons return to their roots of tolerance and forgiveness. Its the only way to know Peace.

And to all those that are still directly affected and living victims, the Sons and Daughters and Wives, and the many emergency personnel that were exposed to the toxic aftermath, I wish you all health and a long happy life.

Unfortunately more victims keep coming. More health problems both physical and mental to continue. The real death toll of this is still to be counted.

                          Ahh. A Frenchman.

I worked in NYC for a number of months and I lived in the shadow of the Towers (the apartment fronted on Battery Park) for six weeks the year before the attack. Haven't been back since, and can ill imagine the city without those towers looming large over all others.

I would call on all to reflect, not remember. Simply because remembering is NEVER going to be a problem. Not at least until a generation or two go by. No human being with a soul could forget that day after seeing the towers fall on live television or inthe many repeats after.

Reflect on why it happened, how we can stop those that made it happen, and how we can best stop the same from happening again.

IMO, no one has come up with complete answers for any of those fundamental questions.

RIP, victims of September 11, 2001. I'm not sure who to feel more sympathy for, the victims themselves or those left behind.
