    MP3 organization program..>?????

Well, i think now that i have a new storage drive that i may convert many of my CDs to MP3 format to accompany the 40 some odd gigs i already have. But i dont have it organized very well, some by artist/album and some just all tossed into a folder. I also have to rename A LOT of them in order to get them in the same format. Any suggestions/recomendations?

PS, please do not recomend iCrap

You have got the solution already, create subfolders with the genre trype as the folder name, I am not aware of any off the shelf program that will automatically sort your music as even MP3 player software will have 'set' tabs installed and then you decide what goes into what 'set' and allows for the creation of new 'set' tabs. You might be able to create a search facility based on the ID tags, but personally I strip all my MP3's ID tag information, including only what I want to these to show.

Tag&Rename is the best I've seen for this. It's easy to use and loaded with features.

iTunes can be set to automatically sort music and re-orginize based on meta info in the mp3s. So if the tags with Artest, Album, Title, track and so on are complete it will rename and move the files around to keep them orginized. It's also the right price: free.

That only works if every song you have is consistently tagged with the same version of id3 to begin with.

I've used MediaMonkey a little to organize & update my MP3s. Allows viewing/sorting by several methods (title, artist, album, year, etc.), you can update ID tag info, play from it, etc.
