            I was under the impression that none of the "fire bomb" balloons ever did what they were intended to do. And that you can still find one occasionally.

                Actually, a few made it over. None successfully carried out an attack, but a few made it. A few civilians were killed when they accidentally triggered a downed one.

                Only casualties by enemy action in the CONUS during the war.
