In a nutshell? Iran will continue to move forward with their program, as we have clearly shown that nukes are a great deterrent.

I doubt that NK will intentionally distribute tech to non-state groups, but I would not be surprised if they helped states such as Iran, Venezuela, etc. to build their programs.

We can't do anything militarily, even without the nuke issue, because the NKs have enough arty to level Seoul in about an hour.

                /grass parking rot?

So they drive on up to tokyo harbor, set off the device and in less than an hour N. Korea becomes a large parking lot for china...

Fat Man weighed 10,000 lbs (even little boy still weighed in at 8900 lbs)...N.Korea's bombers can carry ~7,000 lbs...(All this is assumed that the device would be about as big as our first atomic weapon...)

Yeah, they may be irrational, but they're not retarded...

That's about all they could do. Their warfighting capability is severely lacking since Soviet support went away. Fixed artillery is a one-trick pony, once the war went mobile, it's fairly useless. Plus, the HART emplacements are really a pre-JDAM or LGB concept.

As for them helping other states, Pakistan already beat them to it. I mean, thats how NK managed to make theirs, after all.

that part that scares me is NK hates Japan. Japan has no defence from such military actions because of the demilitarization after WW2. now if the UN/US drop the peace treaty this would greatly anger China. wich is still persueing punitive damages against japan to this day.

so basically what worries me, is how fragile this region is after the nuclear testing by north korea. you have world super powers now possibly preparing for military actions. and if thats the case, we are possibly looking at ww3

of course these thoughts are all on the extreme end

Japan has the best defensive system in the world today.

I don't think anyone would get in the way of the US if the NKs started a fight. The Chinese have proven to be much more intelligent than that.

I wonder. I know that JKI is a known whacko, but look at it from his view. Testing validates his stance against the US, provides better defense against invasion, and boosts his support internally.

The flipside is that at some point Russia and China will get tired of putting up with their wayward stepchild. This latest action probably tweaked some tail feathers in Moscow and Beijing.
