Absolutely , like most things. I'd add customer service as a reasonably close second. If you spend a bunch on a set of clubs that you'll likely have for a long time , there will be occasions where you might need a tweak , fix or tune.

Just about every golf store will let you hit clubs in the store , that's really the best way. Some will even let you take a Demo set to the course. Depending on how much a person is going to spend , that's a great option.

The problem is, all golf clubs felt "off" to me.

I ended up buying a set of Nike CPR2 graphite irons - I figure I need all the forgiveness I can get and can move up in clubs later if I want to. This fit my need to have a name and decent looks in a club (bad criteria I know.) They feel good and I like them though, and I am told they are good for beginners.

      I got the CPR2 irons 5-PW
The CPR2 hybrid irons? 22 and 26 degree

I know I have to pick up a sand wedge - I think at least. I may go with the X-18 here...

      I obviously need a putter

I know I need a bag - the group I will play with walks, any good recommendations?

Drivers? When I toyed around ten years ago, or more there was a 1 wood and a 3 wood. Now there degrees? What driver(s) should I get? I mean, degree etc. Obviously feeling matters. But I have no idea

      I think I need a 18 degree hybrid to use as a 3 wood?? And a driver?

In a bag , something light of course and make sure it has an intregal shoulder 'system' and stands. Looks at something OGIO or Datrek for instance.

        I've got this bag....

Shopping.com is a leading price comparison site that allows you shop online for the best deals and lowest prices. You can read unbiased product reviews and compare prices online. Online shopping has never been as easy!

But it's made by OGIO anyway.

Drivers are still a #1 but are fine tuned nowadys by degree. The launchmoniter found at many golf store will tell you your ideal launch angle by degree but as a beginner I wouldn't go below 10 regardless , probably 11* if you can find one you like.

Fairway woods is kinda the same thing. It your level , you just want something easy to hit long off the turf. You may not even want a 'wood' persay as you could get by with a CPR or rescue type club intead. In either case your going to be in the 15-18* area.
