    Damn son, you're pretty ignorant.

Yeah, Napa...rednecks...sure. Jeff Gordan (I don't like him too much, but he comes from around here) is from Vallejo. Vallejo is one of the "unredneck" town you can think of. There are absolutely no rednecks around here. You really aren't very aware of the subject that you are talking about so really, don't talk.

I don't think that I'm the only one that I speak for when I say that I don't enjoy reading the absolute ignorance and stupidity that is coming from your text.

Wow - dude...sorry - I am the furthest thing from a redneck - and sorry that you may have been forced to have sex with your cousin

I have no idea why you posted what you posted - but it was certainly uncalled for

all i was getting at, is after learning about the drivers and seeing what theu accomplished to compete at the level they're at - the story lines get quite interesting

Too much flaming going on here. I will close this unless we can all act like adults.

Im sorry I got a little carried away lets not get this closed. Here is what is important... everyone likes different things for different reasons. And stereotypes should not apply to any sport or otherthings. If anyone wants to learn mor about NASCAR or the Winston cup circut Im sure you could post it up and someone would be happy to explain it to you.

Not trying to flame here, but it really amazes me how quickly the camera goes into 'soft focus' once someone has died. He earned the title "The Intimidator" for a reason, and it wasn't because he was a super-nice guy. Sure, I don't know every facet of his life, because frankly I don't care. Still doesn't mean I have to respect him or his sport. How about real racing, like F1, where contact with another driver ensures a horrible finish, if you finish at all. That's racing, not slamming into people for 500 miles of ovals, which could be better characterized as a demolition derby.

NASCAR has become a sham... it's purely about the show and keeping the sponsors happy. How many times do we have to hear about how Cheerios helped this driver win, or how the great people at Home Depot are behind this wonderful racecar? How about having a year without any weekly rules changes? "Lets take some wedge out of the Pontiacs because they were slow last week..." "Lets add restrictor plates because we want to bunch up the drivers so the audience thinks its cool..." "Lets take away some wing from the chevys because they were too fast last month..." Bah!

No thanks... gimme F1 or GT3 or SOMETHING where they let the manufacturers build and the drivers race a WHOLE season - no rules changes except for critical safety issues. Anyone remember the "Group B" rally cars? 0-100kph in 2 1/2 seconds... on gravel? Now THAT is racing. Pity they outlawed them for something as lame as the overwhelming chance of dying while driving one, eh?

I guess I just see the 'sport' of NASCAR in pretty much a completely different light than you, Sir. Foxalot. It IS an amazingly popular thing, but I just absolutely cannot fathom why. I respect your opinion, but just don't share it.

And remember, Friday, March 1 is the 1st free practice of the 2002 F1 season in Melbourne, Austrailia!

If we are talking real racing then WRC rally, Formula 1, and Touring Cars are way more exciting and interesting.

Krafty, define a sport. Do not give examples of what is or what is not, just define what a sport is. Something requiring severe physical activity? Something that most people can do, but very few can do well? What is it?

sorry, i didnt mean for this post to bash Nascar. i mean people prefer different things, i was just expressing my opinion. if i was actualy there or knew some of the background stories then i'd probably find it interesting also. Besides reverse the scenario, i remember before I started to play paintball i was watching the old espn covered tounies. Now watching that for an hour was not going to happen since if you didn't play and not understand the game you'd also find it hella boring.
I'm not deaf, I'm just ignoring you...

NASCAR is an acronym for "Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks", I did however here the Phizer car ( Viagra) was the hardest car to drive only due to its stiff suspension.
You guys need to lighten up, not everyone has the same opinion, I cant stand watching it, but Days of Thunder was a cool movie.

                      Non-atheletic my ***.

They lose weight on every race because of the G-forces.

Days of Thunder was one of the worst things I've ever seen, but that can be because Nicole Kidman is ugly. But this entire statement is my own personal opinion.

Good question... I really don't know. But when I think of the word, NASCAR doesn't fit with it. JMHO, and just about all I have to say on the matter.

It's really too bad, becasue I'm a fan of all racing

Quebec rally racing (way more exciting than stuff overseas - watch it and you'll know )

Nascar - not a fan as long as some (4 years) but a fan altogether

                          F1 -what can you say?

Cart/irl - we miss you Greg Moore

I'll even watch stock class, modifieds, NHRA, etc...

24 hours of Daytona? I was in HEAVEN when speedvision broadcast all 24 hours..

I can appreciate alot of things.. What I can't stand is the small minded comments.. I thought this was going to be an informational Thread..not bash the hillbilly/readnecks

I own a 2000 Grand Prix - but could never own a mercedes/ferrari/honda super car - but I can always dream....

I take it that you haven't seen Moulin Rouge? She is GOURGEOUS in that film. I used to think she wasn't muich but after seeing that I changed my mind...

I used to think there was nothing to NASCAR in terms of skills. Then I tried one of those high-tech racing simulators (not the arcade stuff; something you pay $5-$10 to play). I got schooled by computer opponents. If a sim is that hard, I can only imagine what the real thing is like. There's a lot mre than just holding the gas pedal to the floor.
