Forgot to mention: Most of all the parts will be replaced to do performance sake atleast I'm just looking for what it came out of or a general guess so once i get down to rebuilding it within the next coupple of months I can buy what ever it needs(which will prob be a lot)

Seems like you can pull the VIN off the block of the engine, do a lookup on that and have the make of car it came in.....

Looks like a 351W and C6 transmission to me. You might take a few pics at other angles, a better pic of the valve covers, and one of the top of the engine to give a better view. If it is a 351W it could be out of practically any pickup or van from the early 80's up to the mid 90's. If you need parts for it just tell them it's a 351W at the parts house and most the time they won't even need to know what it came out of.

Yeah... I didn't even think of that, but you can pull the casting number off the intake and block and decode them to find out what it was supposed to be in.

Good luck on casting numbers or VINs doing you any good before the mid 90's with Ford - aside from telling you for certain what year and engine it is. Ford was not known to keep great records by VIN beyond that.

Might think your sandrail through a little better. Heavy rear engine sand rails tend to have there own problems - there are reasons people build front engine buggies rather than rails when using V8s

Alright I'm moveing the engine tomarrow to bring it in the garrage to start pulling useless crap I'lll get pics for you all and try finding the vin

that engine looks like one of those things from the Movie tremors...but smaller.

just pulled the carb and left valve cover and looks like I'll be investing in some new heads. Luckly, so far, no dammaged bolts, nuts or screws so that'll atleast mean it should be a decent tear down miunus all the crap in the heads and where ever else it may lie. new pics of the engine will be up soon.

Well it it looks like a 80's small block 302 or 351.(I guess 302)
Look for a series of numbers/letters starting with a letter
C=1960's
D=1970's
E=1980's

Second will be a number which is the year in that decade
Example: D7####=1977

The late 70's and 80's small blocks dont vary much,
unless its a mustang motor( which its not )even then theres not much difference

If you want any performance junk the heads, there are NO good stock heads,
ok gt40p heads are good, but only came stock on mid 90's explorer v8's

Buy aftermarket heads period.
Cams, intakes, headers will offer gains but again the stock heads are huge power corks.
