Car issue

So, up here in Duluth it can get kind of cold. The other day I was out shopping for christmas stuff and my trunk was working fine, opend and closed no problem (used a key to open). I get back to my apartment and I lift the handle on the drivers side to pop the trunk open. That works but now the trunk will not close (and lever will not go down). I think the line is frozen but I don't know anything about how cars work. If anybody has experience or any idea what I could do that would be excelent. It gets parked outside cause I have no garage so I can't really leave it anywhere to thaw out...

any help is much appreciated

Wd 40 will help break it loose but it's not a lubricant and will fail if you try to use it as such.

my trunk does the same thing sometimes... look at the latch on the trunk door.. thats where mine gets stuck in the open position.. sometimes you can just take a screwdriver and get the latch to close( you just need play around with it, no specific way to get it to close) which will make the lever go down and you should be able to close it then... and like they said... wd40 or something like that also would be a good idea!

Your exactly right, WD40 is not a pentrating oil, regardless of the claims, its purpose is water displacement. Use a real penetrating oil (break away) or grease (Cyclo offers white lithium in a spray)

tri-flow has a graphite in it, it works pretty well as a lubricant, its pretty thing though.
