      I figured my shenanigans may be amusing for the general forum...

        Never tell them the price! We set budget limits sometimes and always ignore them, LOL.

          Indeed. The guys on this forum that will spend their whole lives lonely (and there will be a few) can live vicariously through you. :P

              So yeah, I've been visiting jewelery stores with the g/f and she's had her eye on ... rings (like the expensive one's)
              We would talk about things and always come to the conclusion that she was high maintenance and I was cheap. Not like I'm actually cheap, but she's the type of girl who won't use off-brand toilet paper, use generic brand medicine, drink tap-water, etc.

              I wanted to stay in the $3500 range... I'm not sure how, but I ended up with a ring that was about $5500. Seems like everytime you look at the $10k things for fun, those smaller things seem so much more of a deal then they're like. Oh yeah, mount/set/fit/insure is only $700 more, to which of course you agree because of the relative price difference. By the time you walk out the door, you have no clue what the hell just happened.

              At least in the old days you would get a dowry... nowadays you don't even get a cow or a few '06 egos

                Also, I've been dating her 4ever... and all her this xmas was a cool pink ipod nano.

                /the ring is for after xmas
                //it is not a gift
                ///even though she wears it, it's 100% mine

                  Yessir. I still don't see why you're asking me though, I'm kind of too young to think about why a woman would get angry for her significant other spending more than the intended amount on her. And Pheonix, I think I would kill your girlfriend, no offense... I had a friend like that in high school who wouldn't use generic medicine, etc, and I was ready to kill her by the time we graduated.

                    maybe she is seeing the more $$$ spent on the gift as taking the relationship more serious than she's wanting it to be at this point? could be way off, just a thought.

                    /still has to buy wife's christmas present
                    //doesnt know what to get her yet

                    edit: isn't this thread a contradiction to this one figured out women
