    Settling the Spam Issue

Alright, since so many people are crying out over this spam issue... I would like to dedicate a thread to a proper (or as close to proper as we can get) resolution. First of all, I'd like you guys to define spam. Please present your argument in a logical manner and prove evidence (links to posts would be helpful, please cite outside sources) in order to prevent confusion over the identification of spam. After that, I would like to hear your resolution along with arguments as to why your resolution could be effective in the prevention or control of said spamming. The arguments, data, and conclusions will be edited into the thread as it comes along.

I will not contribute any arguments, data, or solutions for the sake of neutrality. Lets just say I'm the scribe and prompter who will organize the issue.

    Literal Definition of spam:

    AO member interpretation of spam:

I see spam as the solicitation of non-paintball products by new members/outside vendors, on our forums.
This includes and is not limited to:
    Cell phones.
    Gaming Consoles
    Dating Website Services
    ???
    Profit.
    Example:http://www.automags.org/forums/showt...97#post2270297
    Proposed resolution for spamming:

we should curse and post porn in every spam thread, that way the mods will delte it, seems illogical, but i bet it works, since the mods seem to not care if we have soam, but iff they see asterisks they break out the ban stick in no time flat..

CKY brings up an excellent point, which I feel should be addressed.

I think that if we sliced the aforementioned meat product, and fried them as such in a heated skillet, it would turn into a delicious solution.

We could then serve on toasted bread, a light dressing maybe, some tomato, a little lettuce.

Please define spam in threads before proposing a solution, that way we can avoid any loopholes created by lack of argument.

Maybe we can reverse-engineer a Spam definition from here:
Spam is any thread that has cursing and porn that the mods haven't deleted since they don't care about spam but do break out the ban stick for asterisks in no time flat.

I'm getting a kick out of imagining the mods grinding their teeth over this thread. It's the friendly corner, and while not exactly what the friendly corner was created for, I don't believe this thread breaks any rules.

As far as spam goes, I don't see the problem. I come on here pretty much every day after school, multiple times, and I haven't seen spam in quite a while. I may just be blind, but I'm not seeing it as much of a problem.

If you see spam, just click the little red triangle in the top-right corner, type "spam" in the box on the next screen, and go about the rest of your life. Mods then will come by and delete the thread.
you know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...
