I've been in the middle of Fight Club for longer than I'd like to admit, and I just started reading Charlie Weis's No Excuses today since I got it for Christmas. I've got a pile of books I wanted to get through before the end of break but now I doubt it's gonna happen. There's just not enough time!

Most recently I got through a pile of riveting communiques between 1946 US Secretary of State Byrnes and American diplomats to France and Vietnam. Quite interesting. Also glazed over the good 'ol Vietnamese Declaration of Independence. Yes I was writing a prospectus for history. Scary when you realize how much Ho Chi Minh was willing to side with the United States if we only told the French to quit meddling in a colony they were going to lose anyways. Ah well, not the historian's job to make that call. That's for the poli-scientists.

When the Leage of Nations was set up a young Uncle Ho approached the Prez about supporting French Indo-China's independence, but was rebuffed on racist grounds. The Vietnam war could have been theoritically stopped from even starting not long after WW1

Got a couple chapters of The Prince done before christmas, but since i got a bunch of books today, I've started on World War Z (the sequel to The Zombie Survival Guide)

When I finish those I'll be moving onto Alexander's Orders to his Generals and A Briefer History of Time (was supposed to be A Brief History of Time but the Borders girl didn't quite understand what my mom was asking for).

Its funny, we have a local band here, composed of a couple of firefighters, and a used car salesman :P

                          Anyways, their one verse goes:

"When i was just a little boy of maybe 2 or 3
My mother well she asked me what i'd like to be
I looked at her, 'Dear Mother, Marine Corps is for me.
And when i'm done with that, perhaps a ladder company.'

For my next birthday, wrapped up as a gift: Report from Engine 82,
                          A book by Dennis Smith..."

That book was great, however, it really puts the mormans in a bad light. Especially the FLDS, what a bunch of crazies. Have you read any of his other books? I thought all of them were great, especially Into the Wild.

Anyone read anything by Friedrich Nietzsche? I tried to read The Anti-Christ but found it too difficult to follow. Especially when he throws out "Schopenhauer" I don't wanna stop and have to look up who he was! What I did understand was interesting though.

I think i need to pick up a copy of The Hobbit which I have yet to read...

Luckily 'Santa' brought me a gift card to barnes and nobles!
