Ghost Map. It's about the cholera epidemic in the late 1800s in England.

I just read the latest Diesel Power Magazine, good reading if you have a newer diesel engine. They really don't have much love for those older style ones...

Plus, I read DR. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas the collectors editon, deep reading as well!!

Wow, i really didnt like that book. If you guys watch the movie, i feel sorry for you. Its way off from the book, made in the 60s(i think), and is just horribly acted/made.

I completely retract my previous statement (I was only on page 33 when I wrote it! srry). I couldn't sleep last night so I started reading it again and I finished it off somewhere around 4am.

The ending was so messed up and awesome! Garland did a good job transitioning the characters from sane to completely crazy.

Which one of his books should I read next?

The Diary Of An Unknown Aviator
Basically the diary of an aviator in the first world war. A great book if you're into that kind of stuff.

He only has three books. Other than The Beach, its The Tessaract and Coma. Both are good (The Beach was better). And if you didn't know, he wrote the screenplay for 28 Days Later and was also involved in writing the "plot" for HALO.

A couple other great authors are Nick Hornsby (High Fidelity), Brett Easton Ellis (American Pyscho), and of course, Chuck Palahnuik (Fight Club).

If you havn't read American Pyscho, you may want to check it out. Its one of the most twisted books you'll ever read.

Amen. One of my favorite books, as well as movies. Palahnuik's decent too, but I'm not as in love with him as so many of my friends seem to be.

Brian, have you read anything else of Ellis's you'd recommend?

I have Rules of Attraction, Glamorama, Less than Zero, and The Informers.

Out of those, I liked Glamorama the best. Its like a serious Zoolander (Ellis almost sued the guys who made Zoolander). It gets pretty surreal and the end is confusing as hell but its a good read.

Rules of Attraction, eh, I wasn't a huge fan of the book but I do like the movie, I recommend checking it out. I remember when I saw the commercials I thought it was some stupid teenybopper movie but its about drugs, sex, and suicide and is all sorts of messed up.

Less Than Zero was pretty good, as was The Informers.

Out of those authors I listed though, Nick Hornsby is probably the best. High Fidelity and A Long Way Down are great books.
