What question should i ask when contacting a college

    as the title says.

i am going into a few colleges in the next week or 2 to tour the campus and ask questions. the schools i will be looking at are art based schools

so im wondering, what are some good questions to ask, and what kind of answers should i look out for? anything i should look for on campus? what are some things i SHOULD do when im there?

*newbie at college so all help needed *

Testimonials, or any success storys they can share. Just to see what Grads are doing currently, it would help you see the results of the school can do for you and if it works.
hope that helps or sort of.

        • what coop programs are there
        • how meals work (most important, otherwise you can get stuck eating at a really crappy hall like all of RIT freshmen do)

          1) Do I have to sign an Alcohol and Drug use policy?

          if not

          2) Can I bring my paintball equipment?

definatally ask if its a dry campus.
ask to see the dorms before you agree to stay there, my dorms at UNOH are nasty and we pay way way way to much for them, soon as i find a job i'll be getting an apartment though.

also check out the town these colleges are in, always good to know about the place you have to live for the next 4ish years.

the job placement, ive been told is around 95% with in 6 months of graduation. how ever im very skeptical on that. so ill be asking when i get there

what do you mean by coop programs? like programs that allow me to work in a related feild to my studies, sort of like an internship?

and paintball guns im not worried about as i wont be living at the school so there for i dont have to abide by there gun laws

right now im looking at Milwaukee and Shaumberg, IL. both have ups and downs but both offer anything i could possibly want so that shouldnt be a problem.

like i said in my previous comment there is a GREAT possibility that i will not be living in dorms, but i intended on checking some out just as an Incase situation.

when you say dry campus. i understand no alchohal on campus. but say if i were to go out to a bar and then come back to my dorm later that night. would that break the dry campus rule? (will be 23 when i go to school, so not to worried about alchohal)

coop is generally a technical internship program that is based in your field of study. You get it set up through your school and generally work full time for a semester and make mad cash, contacts, and hopefully line a job up for when you graduate.

If you can gratuate with 1 year of real experience then you'll definately get hired unless you're made of lose.

What is the male to female ratio?
How many bars per square mile (how many serve underage)?
How far of a walk is it from the dorms to the best bars?
                    Are the professors jack arses?
How far of a walk is it from the male to female dorms?
                    Are the dorm bathrooms clean?

What is the in dorm alcohol policy?
What is the rules for women in the dorm rooms?

                    ^^^
Those two questions would seriously affect my decision. I like my beer and I like my womans.

In addition to what the others have said look into where it is. Like take a trip into town and see whats there. My school sucks because there is nothing to do in town. I mean nothing Look at the community too.

massachusetts college of art has the best 3D program. RISD has the best design program. and... some other school has the best 2D program, i forgot which one

cooper union is also a good art school... and free.

those are, of course, fairly hard schools to get into <.<.
