    Got Snow?

We've been getting hit pretty hard with snowstorms here lately. We got a pretty good storm with about 3 foot drifts a week and a half ago, and then just four days ago we got blasted again with another one. Drifts around here were about 4-6 feet deep most places. Anyways here's some pics!

About a 4' drift by our old Farmall "M" tractor.

The pile of snow after cleaning the yard up with our loader...

Pic of my pickup in front of the pile to show relative size (didn't work too good cause my pickup was parked too far in front of it, but I didn't feel like moving it just for the pic so Oh well!)

I guess southeast of here down in the town of Springfield they really got hammered. Apparently they have some 20+ foot tall drifts and the National Guard was sent in by helicoptor to rescue stranded motorists and deliver food and medicine to places that needed it. Crazy!

Oh and my wife just informed me tonight that according to the weatherman we're supposed to get another storm this Friday. yay. Sure makes doing the chores a ball!

No snow up here you . My boss just got a Chexy 4500 with a boss 9ft that I want to play with.

But wow 7ft of snow would make Muncipal trucks, practicaly any truck worthless. And seeing how the my bro's old business was if we got that much the only thing to move would have been the skid steer and the tractor which to pull them out to a job and drive between them would have been big bucks.

Luckily this is pretty much purely an agricultural community and you don't realize how many people have loaders, backhoes, and tractors with blades on them until you get a snow like this. I saw 2 huge case 4wd tractors with chains and blades, and a repowered 8630 john deere with a blade running up and down the highway in front of our house. Everyone that has equipment gets their neighbors and then heads into town to help out there too. We got our old michigan 35 wheel loader out and started busting ourselves out and then managed to get our 920 cat loader out of the shop bay it was parked in and started using that too. We've got another loader and a J.D. 8630 on our north farm, but that's about 15 miles away and we never made it out there until yesterday.

The last blizzard we got was in 97 or so and we made about a thousand bucks in a couple days by digging out the local schools.

All of our winters for the past 8 years or so have been practically no snow because we've been in a nasty drought for that long. At the end of this past summer we finally ended up getting some nice rains and now we're getting blasted with snow so hopefully the drought is done for and will stay gone.

Looks like you got our snow. I've heard this is the first December since 1888 that' we have had no snow in December here.
