Custom pulley bracket? for a car

I just purchased a 95 Grand Am for REALLY cheap. Its got the quad4, unfortunatly for me the transition year that lost 30HP from the previous year, but peppy nontheless. The air conditioner compressor is tied in with the serpentine belt instead of being on a seperate belt. The compressor clutch is screwed and will soon be the reason the car won't run.
I am considering taking off the air entirely to save the power draw, and because I have no intrest in paying what it will cost to have it fixed. I would like to remove it and all its components to save weight as well.

I was wondering if any of you know of a company making pully brackets for racing or similar application that will allow the use of the stock serpentine belt.

Why not just get a shorter belt?

I am not certain that a shorter belt will be able to make the circuit, due to placement of the pulley's.

Generally shorter belts will not work, Dorman products makes an AC compressor bypass pulley - Ill look up application for that year. That being said, that power draw, will likely not be noticeable

That would be wonderful. Given that when you replace a pully with a pully there is nothing really saved.....

A pulley over a AC clutch that is not functioning properly is going to be much better as far as power it takes to turn it, that being said don't expect a ton of extra power all of the sudden. The advantage of the Dorman bypass system is that it allows the belt routing to be functionally the same

I don't know. One of the companies I purchase from is a vendor so its pretty handy for me to purchase from. One of the automotive stores in your area (Autovalue I know) should have Dorman readily available

That is really the key. I am not looking for this to be "nitro", just to make the car reliably functional w/o the air. If I can pull all the components to save weight it certainly won't hurt anything. I got this car cheap enough that I can modify it pretty much any way I like w/o sinking finacially.

                      Autovalue?

If I cannot purchase from them direct, you think I could send you a MO?

I can ship you one out on Thursday, there $39.15 and it would run me about $5 in priority mail I think. You should note I have seen a case where you had to run a belt a half inch longer or shorter than what it calls for, though Dorman claims you should be able to run the stock belt for with AC.

check the serpentine belt diagram on the core support, sometimes you can just get a different belt for A/C

or you could go to the bone yard and find a bracket that is for a non a/c car

                            Winner.
Check eBay. And go to one of those junkyard websites that lets you submit a request then those who have it respond.

Also are you sure the clutch is bad? Check the connections, and make sure their is enough refrigerant in the system.
