    WTC Flag and the olympics

What's the deal?!? The US team isn't allowed to carry the flag in because of "Political covertones"? What the *edit* Do NOT cuss here! As a senior member, you know better than that! Army?!? It's our *edit* country, we can do whatever the hell we want to. God, this really pisses me off.

Thanks.... I just caught a glimpse on the news (last night), but was working, so I did not catch it all.

I think that would be an acceptable compromise.

I just read on cnn.com that the flag will be walked in after all of the atheletes and it will be raised as the official flag for the USA. This calms me down some what but I'm still pretty pissed that this was even an issue. As far as I'm concerened, the host country can should be able to fly any flag they want too. Somebody doesn't like it than they don't have to go. I may even watch it.

Aknowledged etiquette for damaged flags due to NEGLECT, is to formally retire it by burning it ceremoniously.

The WTC flag was not damaged due to neglect, but by events in history. To honor such flags, we usually put them on display in museums and the like. The WTC flag will proudly fly over our, and the worlds atheletes, to symbolize the point in time that we were ALL affected by evil.
