I know plenty of white dancers that are better than me... Like Ivan from 'so you think you can dance'. I had the pleasure of taking class from him when he was in Seattle before he started up in LA and got on the show. And Tony Testa, I've taken class from him before too another incredibly talented dancer. And the guy with the big spikey hair in 'you got served', I took class from him too.

Thats some sweet dancing Footemps! I'm a dancer too, first year though. I take it from Dance Unlimited Ltd. Hip Hop(pop and wave), group name is "Fired Up" and Musical Theatre(Broadway), this production is "Bugsy Malone". My first performance is like first week of march for MT and the Hip Hop is like April. I'm getting nervous, any dancers out there wanna give me some advice on stage performance? I've never danced in front of an audience before, played piano yes but not danced. Watch me get stage fright, I'll ask a friend to record it and put it up on youtube if recording is allowed in the theatre. Footemp, you've got some skills there, I'd swear you took jazz and ballet before judging by the style of dancing... or that you just told me in a pm! How many years have you been dancing?

hahaha, i like the last PM you sent me.

I've been dancing since 99 or 2000. I started out as pretty much a hardcore bboy but then I quit because I got sick of dealing with people asking me to perform for them. I took a year off before I joined my school's dace team and went to districts doing a hip hop performance. The judges obviously failed us in every aspect since they didn't even know what hip hop was, hahaha. Next two years they started up a hip hop category for us and we went to state and placed. After high school I joined a dance group called 'Entyce' and performed a couple times. I've also performed at boogiezone events.

As for dealing with stage fright:
All I've got to say is dance like no one is there, trust me... you'll have problems seeing the audience so don't even worry about it. Just make sure your friends don't yell out anything too embarrassing so you don't stumble or trip up. And if you do mess up, keep dancing anyway. If you stop and look lost, you'll just look bad. If you screw up, go off on a tangent, and then come back with the group... it'll look a lot better.

yea i know what you mean, some judges dont even know what real hip hop is. I mean some group that dances side to side clapping their hands for two minutes can score a higher medal than a group thats actually popping and waving. Hey in your vid, how did you do that chest pop? I can't do a chest pop yet. Well ten more weeks till first performance so I've still got time to practise(I'll get someone to videotape it and post it up).

Entyce? Hmm that sounds offly familiar, did you do any national competitions? Thanks for the advice on the nervousness. I'll imagine they aren't there, they're only a figment of my imaginations... and I'll duct tape all my friend's mouths.
