Get wireless internet. Pretty decently fast and surely one of the towns nearby you has a tower.

Aye, that's what I have. Unfortunately the company is unreliable, has very limited range, and is the only game "in town." I plan on building a new house soon, and their coverage area is very small and won't cover most of the areas I'm looking at (plus, I'd like to get away from them). Besides, I don't consider 256 Kb/s max high speed. I want a FAT pipeline.

I'm hoping the cell phone technology will catch up enough to high speed that I can switch to that someday. Of course, then there's the problem of getting a signal of 2 bars at best most of the time...

I hear ya there, most places around here the cell service sucks!
