    BRP Can-Am Spyder

The wife has always shot down the idea of a motorcycle. Maybe I'll be able to sneak this one by.

    100+ horsepower
    power steering
    anti-lock brakes
    stability control
    etc etc

Hehe...that's pretty cool. I had a buddy model something similar to that a few years ago:

I thought the first picture was completely real until I looked at the other ones. The only way to tell the difference is the different color of the shadow.

HAHA! Yeah, first time I saw it I thought the same thing. I believe he even has it animated somewhere on his site. Very talented 3d artist.

Looks like a motorcycle and a Snowmobile had a kid.

Then that kid went on to have a bastard child with the nanny; a Sea-Doo.

Overall, I think it's ugly. Riding position looks really uncomfortale too.

However if you're really looking for something to subsitute for a motorcycle; I guess it would work.

BRP is too smart to make an uncomfortable rig. In fact, riding reports indicate that it is extremely comfortable.

It's a mistake to think of it as a motorcycle replacemet. It's more a way for snomobile and 4 wheeler fans to ride on the road, and a way for some of us to obtain spousal approval in lieu of a motorcycle.

I think it looks pretty damn sharp. Wierd too, but only because there is nothing else out there like it, at least in wide distribution.

Why did you edit the bit out about your uncle working for BRP, and trying out some off-road version? Not that it made any sense, since an off road version of this would just be one of BRPs ATVs. This machine is purpose-built for on-road use.

I'm fairly sure BRP would not release something like this until they had it good and ready. I'm also not sure how the rear being light is an issue, since there are lighter motorcycles that put more power to the ground without issue. The traction control is there to moderate the chance of any rear-end slippage.

I'm going to sign up for a test drive when they come into the area.

I still don't get it. The entire machine is geared for on-road use. Who in their right mind would use one of these instead of an ATV off-road? It's like using a Hayabusa to do motorcross, even with clearance and off-road tires.

well they already made the frame, so all they needed to do was add offroad tires and a lift kit, so why not? it doesnt really cost them anymore to add tires, so it only makes sence to see if it would work off road, hell it might be the best thing ever invented but, you dont know unless they try
