    Microsoft Convergence 2007

Many of you may not have a clue what this is. It is Microsoft's geek convention for business applications.

I've been to it for the last three years and every year, I come away impressed. This year is no different.

Let me just say, there's a reason why Microsoft generates more revenue in Q1 2006 than Apple did in Q3 and Q4 combined...you could almost add Q2.

iPods are great and all, but they don't help your business.

    Bwhahahaha

MS has what, 9+ times the marketshare that Apple does, and they are only taking in about 2x the revnue? That's a sad statement about MS, not Apple.

Get real, MS only helps us in the IT industry stay employeed. They don't help the business at all, except to spend a lot of money on their IT needs.

Broken window. It's revenue that would be spent on a different product.

IT costs are not at all limited to product costs alone.

Using products with lower TCOs benefit the overall budget. MS's products generally have a high TCO when you take it all into the picture. More stable secure products end up haveing a significant lower TCO.

I know which systems I spend a lot of time maintaining and which I don't have to. Generally across the board I spend a lot of time with the feed and care of MS systems. I don't spend much time at all on the feed and care of unix based systems. Overall I have more windows systems to maintain, but moe unique unix systems and appliances. The windows stuff is generally centrally managed and maintained by a single policy.

I know this is a simplistic way of putting it, but it's the who, not the system that matters.

Yay, Apple is making gobs of profit by overcharging us for these piece of crap Ipods. Go Apple!

You can't compare marketshare and profit. Apple derives so much of it's profit from Ipods, it's hard to even consider it a computer company any more. Shoot, they even took "Computer" out of their name. For Microsoft, their core business is still software. The Zune and Xbox divisions still loose money (Xbox might be making a small profit now, not sure).

Come on everyone, time to jump on the M$ hate bandwagon!

Very true. Apple is doing a lot more than computers.

But... it's soooo fun. I know MS generates at least a headache a day for me. I just want to give a lil back.

Can anyone post a screenshot of Linux, I'm curious as to what it looks like. I've never actually seen it. BTW I don't know if it's just me, but the current Mac OS is like so frusterating and difficult to use. Windows XP is just so much easier to me.

There must be an easy 100 different types of Linux. My favorite is PClinuxOS. Easy to use and plent of programs. The only downfall is games are limited on the OS.

It's just you. I was a PC biggot for years. Could not stand Macs, then OSX came out. Now the only PCs in my house are running FreeBS, otherwise it's all OSX. You just have to get used to things being easy. I fought with OSX for a while, I was just over thinking everything. If you get stuck, take a step back and think "how should this work, not the windows way, but the right way".
