    Photography Forums?

I know we have quite a few 'shutter bugs' here...

I've always enjoyed photography and finally have a job with some expendable income; so I'm looking to buy a nice camera. However before I go and spend 500+ on a Digital SLR I'd like to do a little research, and also like to see if I can pick up something used at a good price.

So my question: Does anyone know any good camera forums (like AO but for cameras)?

    Thanks in advance,

    -Tim

Spend many hours on dpreview. It's the best resource for gear reviews.

Then go get a Canon DSLR.

        Thanks guys...

I registered, but it's taking an awfully long time to spit my temp. password to my e-mail.

You don't need the forums as much as the reviews. Since the forums there are spilt into brand specific areas you will get predictable results from asking "what should I buy" posts. In the Canon area you will get "Buy Canon". In the Nikon area you will get "Buy Nikon".

The Canon gear is quite nice. The Rebel XTi (current entry level) has a few compelling features that are quite nice. A CMOS sensor (there is a reason the highest end Nikon uses a CMOS sensor). An nice anti-dust feature set. A vertical grip (optional extra).

I own Canon digital gear. I owned Nikon film gear. Making the switch was well worth it.

              Almost forgot about FM.

I don't go there as much as POTN, but FM is has a GREAT B/S/T forum. I've bought and sold a couple things there.

nikonians is awesome. Much better content quality than POTN. In some ways Nikonians feels AO ish and POTN is more PBNish. That's part of what I miss from being a Nikon owner.

I'll add www.sigma4less.com in there as a great store. They have unbeatable prices on a ton of lenses, and are VERY reputable. Plus since they are in NY regular shipping gets items to my door in a day or two
