I just started using my own server and I can't figure out how to login to the server directly.
http://(server ip)/ always comes up 403 forbiden I usu. just use a geocities site but now I'm using my own server and I'm stuck. I can't figure out how login.
after the http://(server ip)/ what do I put to login to my server?

are you building your own website? and if so are you building on a server you own, or do you have a hosting company?

I'm building a site off of a server I own, this is the first server I've used myself.

I'm assuming you're using a router, correct? Have you forwarded port 80 to the server? (That would only be an issue if you were using your external IP, not your internal (192.168.whatever) IP)

Also, you should look into using a distro of Linux as the server OS. Much more stable and secure.

Are you trying to login to administer the website, or login to restricted pages? What kind of access do you have to it? FTP? Windows shares? Can you login to the server with a Terminal session or do you have a KVM hooked up? Detail is key for anyone to help you. Describe what you're needing to do with as much detail about the setup and process as possible.
