    R/C help

So, like others here I've noticed, I've taken interest in R/C. Been looking for a hobby to get my mind off paintball. I'm where I want to be there, and if I don't stop whoring guns, I'm gonna pop.

Anyway, I'm looking for a good electric R/C car. Electric, as they are cheaper than nitro, and I don't have much cash right now. I was looking for something high-end and customizable. Maybe Traxxas or something. A good starter, but can be upgraded. Remember, affordable is good! Thanks for any help.

PS: Don't mention Zip-Zaps/X-Mods. I've got a couple of them already!

    traxxas stampede or a rustler

both have recently been remodeled with faster motors and electronic speed controls

the rustler can be had for about $170 ready to run from tower hobbies.

and most all hobby shops stock traxxas parts.

I guess the question is, what are you going to do with the car? Play, Race, Both?

I have no idea what is around any more, but you have to look at durability if you just want to play. You have to look at do you want to play in the grass, dirt or pavement.

If you are going to race, look into what they race in your area. What type of track, what kind of classes, etc.

      Then decide on a car.

Find yourself a good used gas powered R/C.
Run longer and are usually made more rugged than electrics are.
You should be able to find one someone has already started to customize and get a deal.
Just like everything else... new ups are pricey, but used ups are a deal.

            "Ups." As in upgrades.

But yeah, guess what. I found someone who keeps on blowing the engine in his T-Maxx. He's giving it to me. Just giving it! Woo! I'll probably have to grab a new engine, but that's all he suspects is wrong with it. Any ideas on a good aftermarket motor for a Traxxas T-Maxx?

I haven't kept up with the hobby for awhile, but the last awesome thing for t-maxxes was upgrading to a larger 4 stroke engine. They call em thumpers because of the way they sound. Might look into it and see the pros/cons over 2 stroke though.

i've got a stock tmaxx 2.5 that has a gallon through it after breakin, that i could let go maybe for some PB equipment.

the reason your friend keeps blowing up motors is because he's running the truck to lean.

honestly man, i'd reccomend something electric for your first r/c

nitro's are getting easier to tune and stuff, but still, sometimes its a PITA to do.

a good "upgrade" motor for the tmaxx is the traxxas 3.3, i know i know they put them in the new tmaxx trucks but its definatally more than enough power, when its tuned right my truck will pull the wheels off the ground from a roll, and i've got a little big bigger tires than stock
