    Best way to learn autocad?

I've got a copy of autocad, and I'm trying to figure out how to use it on my own. My school is too elitist to every have a cad drafting class, which is how I think some kids around here have learned it.

I've been messing around with it for a while, but I realize that there's just too much to it to possibly figure out by myself. So, what's a good way to learn it? Are there any good online tutorials?

I'd check out the self-help learning books. there have been a few that were really handy for me when i was learning Photoshop.

The tutorials that are included were helpful to me when doing things beyond the scope of my graphics class.

What version/company? I assume that you're inquiring about mechanical and not Arch. CAD.

I've got AutoCad 2007 according to the little icon on my screen. I guess the company is Autodesk. It says that in the corner when I boot it up at least.

And yep, it's mechanical that I'm trying to learn.

I <3 AutoDesk's CAD. Just what are you interested in? How much do you know already? I'm by no means a CAD Guru, but I'll try to help.

if you pm me your adress i can send you a copy of a 2006 cad training program. There's not much of a difference between that and 2007. It's a decent training tutorial tho, covers all the basics and some more

Id say a just tinker. I am taking a 2d/3d cad class now, but most of what Ive learned about autocad and solidedge has come from just playing around with them in my free time.

Just mess around with it at least until you know what all the commands on the side ribbon bar do and how to use them most effectively. This might help you out too. Also, there seem to be some books on the market to help you out with this if you need them

First off, I would say change the right click settings through the options menu. I took drafting for 2 years. You get good at cad and you can use inventor for 3d stuff. Good luck

I've also got the new autodesk 3D drafting program. I haven't really looked as much at that yet though.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll look into that CAD training program. I can probably find torrent for that somewhere.

first thing fire it up once it opens type units and hit enter then set your units to arch or deci or mech then hit ok the type l enter boom baby autocad is doing it thing. pick a point click it drag what direction you wanna go then type in length, toggel F8 to make a straight line F10 to set and angle i think 45* is standard. then draw something. after yr tired of that try out one of the self help books on autocad 07. slick program once you figure it out i use it every day they say its a job
