    Theres goes the first amendment

So yeah, I am NOT defending the word in question. But how can you BAN words?

I understand grotesque and demeaning words and all that fun stuff, but to go as far as banning a word? Where does our first amendment right stand now?

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York City symbolically banned use of the word N***** on Wednesday, the latest step in a campaign that hopes to expunge the most vile of racial slurs from hip hop music and television.

The key words here are "symbolically banned" which means ummm.... NOTHING!
A wasted effort whose energy could have been put into something more worth while.

I may not like the word in question but banning a word is ridiculous.

Even if it was actually Banned, what would be done about it? Nothing. Absolutely Nothing.

How can you expect Police dept. who are already over worked and understaffed to become the speech police?

Fortunately we're crowding all the people who think things like this is a good idea into large cities so we can keep them from infecting everyone else.

This is just one of the many examples of the level of ignorance in our elected officials.

Or its a tribute to the level of ignorance in the general population that elects these clowns and their clones year after year.

It'll never stand up in court. It's just the government pandering to certain groups and getting some PR.
