While I don't mind the hardware discussion, let me start a list of those that play the game so we can link up. I've got 2 soldiers right now, one named Zorrotmm and another is ShellStorm. So far I see two others:

I actually recently got a pretty high end headset, so yeah, I've got a mic. I had serious problems with a usb headset, so now I use one with the mic and headphone jacks

Adware/spyware/malware, they're all seperate with different intentions and results when they're infecting your computer. I just said "spyware" since its the most commonly used term.

And who the hell wants adware on their computer?

If you don't want ad software at all, don't install bf2142, or uninstall it. However, unlike spyware or in general malware, the adware in bf2142 does not infect your computer, or spy on any actions outside the bf2142 software. Uninstall bf2142 and the adware component will be fully removed as well. It does not fit the definition of malicious, so it's pretty hard to call it malware. All the "adware" does is track views of the in-game ads. That's it, nothing scary or evil.

There is a lot of real malware out there. Getting upset about in game ads is one thing. Trying to call the software that drives the in game ads "spyware" just dilutes the definition of real spyware and malware.

How would you know if you have not gotten 2142?




I like BF2142 better because the classes feel more streamlined. There are only 4 classes. The vehicles are also better balanced since they didn't have to maintain realistic items.

2142 kicks *** if you get used to it... I could NEVER get used to BF2, I honestly can't kill anyone in that game... I play 2142 and I get a ****load of kills (My guy has a lot of kills, and good k/d ratio)

I am a good FPS player... but I cannot play BF2... **** I suck at CS too...

If you assumed my previous post was claiming they all have the same result, please reread it again. Thanks for the lecture but I'm well aware of all the types of "goodies" our internet provides us with today. I'm a computer technician and deal with this on a daily basis. I uninstalled BF2142 long ago when I realized I wasn't able to play it on a LAN without purchasing more than one copy. That and it wasn't the smoothest running game on moderate detail settings with my machine so it was axed.

Much adware could be considered malware. In the whole scheme of internet software, the adware in bf2142 has a very low (if it registers at all) evil quotient. It does exactly what it says it does. It does not install any other components. You get a warning on the box about it. It's even easy to disable if you want to. The adware does not infect a machine at all, any more than any install program.

I fully respect your decision to nor play (or even if you had, to not buy) 2142. That's you choice based on information available. The difference is that you had information available. The adware component in bf2142 is well understood and easy to remove. It's nothing like real spyware that infests a computer and downloads other components. Or a virus or worm that turns the machine into a bot. There is a lot more evil stuff running around, spend your time calling that malware/spyware and other bad names.

I enjoy playing BF2142 as long as I'm in a server where no ones using aimbot hacks.
I dont see the point in cheating in online games. Thats just a lack of character and plain out pathetic.
I found a site thats selling guaranteed hack software that gets by Punkbuster.
It works for about 20 different games and they test it everyday.
I just got mad as fire. But it did explain why I keep getting killed with one shot from all
the way across the map by a machine gun on full auto.

I just got this game not to long ago and all I got to say is its really cool. I played bf2 on my 360 and comparied to this its much better imo. I dont have a headset yet but probably will buy one later on but anways my name is LinearGoose210 is anyone whats to play.

Same here, the 360 version got me into the series, but it doesn't compare to the pc titles. If you dont' have a mic, the comm rose works well anyway. I'll be adding you soon.

I haven't got the chance to try 2142 yet, but I do play BF2.
And the console versions of Battlefield aren't nearly as good as on the computer.

I bought all the expansions and both online only downloads for BF2.
I havent played it since I got BF2142.
The upgrades in rank and weapons they stole from America's Army is awesome
(but the game is light years better than AA).

How can you say BF2 is better if you havent played BF2142 ?
I have played everything BF2 offered and BF2142 is way better.

Although I am refusing to pay them another $10.00 download more content this time though
(like I did twice with BF2).

I am waiting for the release of Crysis now (the next Far Cry) :

I'm note sure I even have BF2 on the puter still.

I thought I would never want to leave the BF1942 Desert Storm mod for BF2 but I did.

from what i understand, crysis will only work with dx 10, and dx 10 will only work with vista.
and you have to have a awesome system just to run Crysis on its low settings.


Look into the Project Realtiy mod for BF2 though if you like a more realistic game play. Frustrating at first, but awesome....I have had my best ever gaming experiences since downloading.
