            If you wanted to go directly to either SWAT or detective work and you have a Marine background and a degree in criminal justice, I would highly reccomend NCIS. As an NCIS agent you can go right to working as a field detective or join one of the "SWAT-like" teams they operate. I've been speaking with an agent about that as a career path after the Navy.
