I know that was just a tv show, but it does reflect something that is true about our society...

There are some who try to stand on moral principles.

And there are others just waiting to blast them out of the water by taking those moral principals totally out of context.

Do you know what the context of biblical slavery was?

To get you started down the right path...think about this...there were no Wal-Marts back then to employee thousands and thousands of people. When someone had a debt, but didn't have a job...he/she had few other options.

Slavery was a different deal back then. Slaves were treated like one of the family.

Many people think of slavery purely in the context of African slaves brought to North America and forced to work. Beaten. Mistreated. Etc. This is not the context of slavery in biblical times.

Just sayin. But hey...makes great television, and is easier to believe, right?

You are exactly right. Which makes the point of that episode totally clear.

The Bible is a peice of literature written by men living thousands of years ago. The rules and ways of life they went by are not necessarily valid today. The slavery of today (still goes on around the world) is very different from what they experienced.

Scientific knowledge is also more advanced obviously. We know today that certain lobes in the brain of homosexuals are identical in shape to those of heterosexuals of the opposite sex. We have also found evidence of differences on the chromosomes of homosexuals. Therefore, homosexuality is most likely a natural occurence, like left-handedness.

No way!?! IMO gay is gay. Not normal, just gay. It's a mentallity that can be changed, every gay person in the world still has the ability to control their bodies and thoughts, so "It's not my fault" doesn't work.
