    Valve/steam got hacked

    "On 4/9/07, a user known as "MaddoxX" managed to hack into the Valve
    servers, and successfully pilfered the following:

    * Screenshots of internal Valve web pages
    * A portion of Valve's Cafe directory
    * Error logs
    * Credit card information of customers
    * Financial information on Valve

    MaddoxX is currently posting the info he captured on an Anti-Steam website,
    which can be found here:

    The articles of this issue can be found here:

    'It's not currently known how far-reaching the credit card breach is, but
    STEAM users who have purchased products online for electronic delivery
    would do well to keep an eye on their credit card statements for the next
    while, especially if MaddoxX makes good on a promise to release a
    "spreadsheet."'

    Again, it's currently unknown how far this spreads, but it's a good idea
    to watch your CC statements online for a while, until something is
    confirmed either by your bank, or Valve themselves.

    Valve has yet to release a statement regarding this, and is currently just
    deleting requests on their forums about it."

    got this in an email today, hadn't seen any posts about it here.

        Oh man!! Thank You for the information. I havent played any of Valves games in a while but i bought them all online. Does it matter that the credit card I used to purchase those games is no longer active but the account it was tied to is still active?

          if the card number itself is no longer active you should be alright.

            Seems like regular customers are safe from this. Hope they catch this guy.

              After reading the article i was a little less worried but like cavemankevin said, inactive credit card number = no credit card fraud.

                Crap. I bought CS a while ago through steam. Does this mean I'm at risk? I used a credit card.

                What is this "cafe" stuff their talking about?
