    Computer problem (GRUB Error 22)

I am having a major issue with my computer right now. If anyone can help, that would be terrific. I bought a laptop that came with Windows Vista. I made a second partition and installed Ubuntu 6.10. I had all sorts of wireless issues due to my wireless card's lack of compatibility with Linux. Ubuntu 7.04 was released yesterday. I know some people who were beta testing it. They said that the wireless support was much better than previous versions. One person's Dell chipset worked without any configuration. I have a broadcom chipset (made by Dell, IIRC). I figured it was worth a shot, so I created a third partition with Ubuntu 7.04. My chipset was obviously not supported. I then proceeded to delete the partition (foolish, but I did it without thinking). Now upon booting, I get Grub 1.5 Error 22. I do not have a windows startup disk. Is there any way to fix GRUB and make it boot to my old Ubuntu 6.10 partition like it used to before I installed 7.04? If so, how?

    Thanks,

    Nick

Linux and Laptops don't mix well. At least none of the combinations I've tried have came out all that great. I think Fedora was the only distro I've ever gotten to work semi-well with my laptop.

Anyway, that happened to me a couple times and I always used an XP disc to do a 'fixmbr' or 'fixboot' from the recovery console. You may be able to do the same thing with vista. You could also try your Ubuntu disc and see if you can just reinstall GRUB from it.

And maybe try some other distos of Linux if you feel like it. Ubuntu is overrated IMO. SuSE and Fedora are my personal favorites.

I have tried the live CDs of Knoppix and Mepis, but they were not that great. I am not a fan of the KDE environment so far. Wireless is a problem with linux almost always. Other than that it has been great. I have Ubuntu running at nearly 100%, and it took alot of work to get it right. I am not about to jump ship now. I reinstalled 7.04 on the 3rd partition so that I could boot up. Is there a way that I can set grub to boot to 6.10 so I can delete the 7.04 partition without an issue?

Ok... So I re-installed Ubuntu 7.04 to partition 3. How can I get it off so that it will boot to Ubuntu 6.10 on partition 2?
