    good gas milage car

im looking towards a fuel efficient car. i was plannin on buying an 06 GTO but with gas prices predicted to hit $4.00 a gallon this summer, im thinking more towards a 2.0L car instead of 6.0L. so my question is what you guys suggest for a 5-10 thousand range. maybe a turbo neon or maybe nice eclipse or something that way i can have some fun, and save money.

Those turbo neons etc dont get any better mileage anyway. So long as you get a 6 spd gto and keep the revs low if youre not trying to race anybody, mileage is pretty dang good. One of my friends has one with headers and exhaust, and he can get close to 30 mpg hwy, and around 20 in town. Thats better than I got with my non turbo neon because I had to really flog the thing to keep up with traffic.

I say get a toyota Echo. They get like, 40mpg. I think the new Yaris gets good mileage too.

      Wait, what am I saying?

      Get a Vespa.

      90mpg ftw!!!

Get a Diesel VW if you want economy and something pretty fun to drive. I swear by my 2004 Jetta TDI, IT may not be out running every other car on the road but its no slouch either. It gets 50mpg is ultra comfy and handles Very nicely at any speed. I have had mine to 200km/hr (124mph) and it felt steady and relaxed. Car has 95,000kms on it problem free thus far.

My last VW was a 1986 VW Golf Diesel. That thing was a BLAST to drive but it really as gutless and it only managed 45mpg. But still i sold it with 350,000kms on the clock running just fine (needed brakes lines and a wheel bearing though).

My wife drives a chevy aveo ... it gets 30+ easy when she drives it ... im lucky to hit 28 when i drive it ...

anything with real good MPG is not going to be fun to drive and still get 30+MPG but just about any 4cyl will get in the upper 20ies even if driven rough ...

If you want a tiny car get a miata ... decent milage and fun to drive!

The difference between an Aveo (or similiar) (40ish) and a "real" car (30ish) may not be enough to justify buying the smaller car made with the concept of fuel economy all the way from start to finish. Unless you are putting a lot of miles on it you might reconsider your needs.

put on a header and amsoil the thing completely!

Lots of parts out there for these cars. descent size/mpg ratio.

                      gas sipper -

interested in this thread as well...

My 98 F-250 4X4 just isnt cutting it at 60 miles a day just to work and back, and a 2500 mile round trip to SD this summer coming up. At a whopping 12-14 mpg that gets much much worse when we get into the hills of SD.

I want to get a good gas mileage car, but considereing I do spend about 2-3 hours a day in the car, I would like to get something comfortable for my recently slice and diced back, and for the sheer fact, driving in a non ergo vehicle just sucks and wears on you quickly!!!
