    more gun questions

Ive acquired a really short barreled ar-15 pistol type thing. I think its a kel-tec. Cheap plastic, I know, but it was cheap and puts all my "acquired" magazines to use. Anyway, I want to know if its legal to throw a foregrip on it without violating any wacky gun laws Im not aware of, and also since its quite short barreled I would need a foregrip that integrates a tac light mount into it since there isnt room for both on the rail. Ive seen pictuers of such things, but I cant actually find any for sale.

Aren't you supposed to ask the local mullah about these sorts of issues?

It'd be illegal to add the foregrip, as adding one to a pistol makes it "AOW" under the NFA of 1934.

No, Im not back. One of the guys here acquired one cheap somehow while he was on leave and decided hed rather have a shotgun, so he sold it to me for 250 bucks. The gun is still back in NY though. That pisses me off about the foregrip legality. Are two point slings legal on pistols?

Kel-tec sells a horizontal foregrip for it. You just can't mount a vertical to that picatinny rail.

Actually a fairly fun little gun, Just don't shoot steel cased .223 through it our you'll end up with FTF/FTE.

Yeah it already has the picatinny rail on there, tis why I wanted a vertical grip. Thanks for the steel casing tip, didnt know that. Any forum or anything I can go to that has information on this specific gun?

Mine doesnt have the sling, scope, deflecting handle or muzzle brake. Seems like a pretty cool gun. A bit smaller than an mp5 with a lot more power/range.

Kel-tec has an owners group. Just google it up if you're interested.

Should be a fun little gun for you, and always gets some looks when you drag it out of the bag at the range. Really only two big tips, don't shoot steel cased ammo(like the manual says) and don't fire a 150+ rnds through it in rapid succession or you'll start melting the forend grip near the gas piston tube/barrel connection. Guess they figured Target pistol, not SMG when they chose materials.

The break was probably the most usefull next to the forend. Reduced muzzle climb noticably.

as mentioned above adding a front grip and/or a stock makes that no longer a pistol. Thus Illegal without proper ATF tax stamp.

ie: if you wanted to add the foregrip you would have to get a AOW taxstamp to "preform" the modification (dont know the exact particulars about AOW stamps)

also ie: if you wished to put a stock on it you would have to get a SBR(short barreled rifle = rifle with less than a 16 inch barrel) tax stamp which I know costs $200 + extensive ATF background check + required signature on a form 4 from your local cheif of law enforcement.

expect the same treatments as the SBR for each other modification you wish to make from the following list: select fire, silencer, SBS(short barrel shotgun) and ... bah I know there is another but cant recall it at this time.
