I can't believe I just heard about this!

Lucid dreaming. I'd never heard of such a thing until now.

    Wikipedia article

And read the part about WILD:

The wake-initiated lucid dream "occurs when the sleeper enters REM sleep with unbroken self-awareness directly from the waking state".[28] There are many techniques aimed at entering a WILD. The key to these techniques is recognizing the hypnagogic stage, which is within the border of being awake and being asleep. If a person is successful in staying aware while this stage occurs, they will eventually enter the dream state while being fully aware that it is a dream.
I've got to try this sometime. Sounds like a really unique experience.

Any of you out there lucid dreamers?

well i kinda do it by i can never manipulate it. several times ive been able to pause a dream, take a piss then come right back to it. its pretty cool. i can also sometimes subconciously manipulate it but never in my favor. like if im having a scary dream i can never whip out a machine gun and kill the bad guy, lol. always a great experience

I do on occasion, but I've never actually intentionally invoked them.

I've had it happen before, but never been able to will it to happen or anything.

Whenever I realize I'm dreaming, I suddenly turn into an evil bastard when I realize I can do whatever I want and it doesn't matter.

And BTW, that wikipedia article has some really interesting stuff in it. Good read.

Done it a few times. Trips you out when you wake up and remember doing it.

Eat cheese or peanuts or peanut butter right before you go to bed. They contain "t" something that makes your brain very active. While relaxing, before sleep, think. Think about whatever it is you want to dream about.

I have had tremendous luck with this. They say you spend less time in REM, and more time in Stage 4 sleep. You need approx. 20% of your nights sleep to be in REM (in order to have a good night's sleep), so it may have it's downs. It's still really cool.

Also, you can dream while in REM, but you are not likely to remember it (let alone remember dreaming). Stage 4 dreaming you are very likely to remember.

I can basically force myself into a lucid dream by doing this. It's definately cool.

(Wasn't Freud the one to come up with the theory behind Lucid dreaming? It's been a while since I've been in psyche class.)

I've done it, still don't believe in the existence of some invisible "subconscious". There's no scientific evidence to support it and it was created by a crack addict.

However, it is ridiculously cool when you do it. I can never seem to get full control though. I can only choose to respond to things that happen in the dream. For instance:

I dreamt that I died and was on my way to the train that goes to heaven lol. However, a monster jumped out of no where and got in my way. I decided to fight him so I could get on the train. After not being able to get him out of my way with any hand techniques for a couple minutes, I decided that it would be best to simply pull out a gun lol. So I made myself conviently have a .357 holstered. I drew it and took the monster down. Then I got on the train lol. Most kickass dream ever. It was sweet that I remembered it too lol.

Scared the piss out of me one time... I was aware but didnt realize I fell asleep. Talk about being freaked out when... well it was stupid, but It was really scary cause stuff like that isnt supposed to happen in real life.

I was wigged out for a while after that.

You do relize that the best way to lucidly dream is LSD, Ketamine, Cannaboids (preferably THC), 'Shrooms, or (This one I am not possitive of) 4-10 Benadryl Pills. <== That's risky and I'm not even positive if it would. It isn't a natural thing when you naturally go into lucid dreaming status. Lucid Dreaming is usually related to hallucinations and such.

I've never had any lcid dreaming stuff but does being aware of your surroundings include your surroudings being aware of you snoring?

i've been able to do this numerous times. most notedly when in a scarey movie i can wake myself up no problem. however on occasion i've been able to manipulate my dreams the way i want. This includes because i want out of no where in a seemingly random dream turn it into a sex dream (i really wish i could do this on demand all the time). But if say i'm having a sad dream where someone i know dies etc....i can then replay the dream and manipulate it to change the past.

its just too bad most of my dreaming is in stage 5 where this is not possible and i dont remember my dreams.
