Dudes, it is all about the hair.
If its hair can be change, done-up, crimped, fluffed, curled or any other thing a little gal would do, it is a doll
If the hard is made of cold, unemotional plastic that can't be moved, it is an action figure.Comment

Idkn, those display type GI Joes with the fabric clothes and crap are dolls IMO. The smaller, hard plastic ones with the little black guns and the optional tank or exploding base are action figures. Yea, I had the latter.
IMO, if it has clothes... it's a doll. If the whole thing is hard plastic with gun/killing accesories, it's an action figure.Comment

or when they are set on stands to look "pretty" and not in any sort of threatening position.
action figures come with items of destruction, guns, knives, gernades, bazooka's, swords.
Dolls come complete with matching shoes and earrings.
action figures drive green jeeps, tanks, helicopters, and airplanes, usually armed with some sort of weapon
dolls drive porches, lamberghinis, ferraris, limos, and are usually all pink.
Action figures usually look tough.
Dolls usually have their heads pulled off.
