    bike insurance-

im looking at buying a honda CBR probably monday, insurance company was closed today so i didnt have a chance to call them, the guy where its at said it ran him 25 bucks a month, i think hes stupid, ive had one careless driving ticket and one 10 mph over speeding ticket. what does it cost you guys a month to drive yours, also if you took a loan out, did you have to have insurance on it(some places here dont make you) because if i dont have to have it, i wont(bad idea i know) but ill see what it costs first, any ideas?

What kind of CBR are you getting? A CBR is a superbike. You'll pay a lot to insure it. Especially since your only 17 (as it states in your profile) and you already have 2 offenses.

I'm 24 and I drive an FZ6, I pay about 400 bucks a year, and I have a totally clean record. I wouldn't be surprised if you had to pay over 100 dollars a month to insure your bike. When I was looking at an R6, I got quoted for $4300 a year from some place. I think it was geico. The cheapest I could find was about $1200 a year.

Your prior street riding experience will save a lot on insurance, taking the MSF course, being on the honor roll/deans list helps, having a clean record, insuring multiple vehicles through the same company, etc. All that stuff will help your rate.

And yes, if you took out a loan for the bike, then you are required to have insurance. The bike belongs to the bank and they want it insured.

I use Rider Insurance, last year as a 19 yr old, first year cycle license with a 600cc street bike it was i think $590 for the whole year. This year as a 20 year old with the same bike, no tickets/accidents it's $450 for the whole year. I tried with gieco last year and they were more expensive. keep in mind that your age, bike, and record does matter. (like said by Gimp) my dad pays less than $300 a year to insure his harley.

Try Rider though, good motorcycle insurance

I use Progressive, and full coverage for my CBR runs around 675 a yr. vs. 180 a year for my Harley.
A few tickets and youth should bring it well above that.

According to the loan you get. If its a personal loan it doesn't matter what you carry, if the loan is specific to the vehicle you will have to get full coverage. Its really not a bad idea if the bike is costing you more than you make in a month or so.

Every R is an increase in premiums.

every CC is an increase in premiums

i pay $104(A month) for full insurance on an 04 yamaha yzf600r (touring version of the r6)

i have 2 speeding tickets in the last year, and im insuring on my own. and im 22

with that said, my bike is on a scale of 1-10 about a 3-5 for insurance. where as an R6 will be around 8-10

a cbr is no different. CBR F4 will be fairly low. CBR 600R about 6-8 CBR 600RR will be up there with the r6.

              hope that makes sense?

yeah its a 600RR, well i hope the bank doesnt make me have full insurance on it, but it would be a good idea to have it, the cops wouldnt be happy if i got pullled over with no insurance.

/i still need a class 2 lisence, ive been riding with out one.

I have a 05 CBR600RR and I pay $300 a year. It is with Metlife Home and Auto insurance. Thats with a low deductible and very good payouts for injuries. I have not had a ticket and am married. Also having other things insured by the same company helps. I have a 04 Truck, 05 car my motorcycle and my home all though the same place.

                      Good luck
