I am not sure what is more sad.

A man kills his wife on Friday and waits an entire day before he smothers his 7 YEAR OLD SON. Smothering is not a quick and painless way to die.

    or

The fact you guys on here think it is worthy of your humor.

An innocent 7 year old boy lost his life here guys. There may be no rules being broken here but there is a definite loss of integrity and compassion. I don't care one bit about the Benoit...but come on...THE KID WAS ONLY 7!

But seriously, guys, Fox News is fine. They're a news source like any other and they're no more or less trustworthy then anyone else. For a great number of stories they use the exact same wire services everyone else does.

As someone who had the news on every day for years (working on a trading floor) I can tell you that the quality of Fox News is better then any of the other 24 hour news chennels. I guess they just put more money into production value because I always thought it just looked better. They also tend to cover more stories during the day then the other channels, where CNN or MSNBC may be looping on 10 stories for the day Fox would usually have closer to 20. It just makes the news more interesting.

And yes, they're opinion pieces skew towards the right. Take the opinion stuff with a grain of salt and then learn to accept that just because they disagree with you doesn't mean they're lying when they report a wrestler died. The NY Times, MSNBC, and most of the other news sources disagree with me on nearly everything, but when they reported that Paris Hilton was going to jail I didn't not beleive it until I saw it on Fox. That's just silly.

And the Daily show is neither news or neutral. Jon Stewart says as much whenever he's asked.

And the Chris Benoit death is very sad. I notice that a lot of the "experts" are saying that it was clearly premeditated and that he killed his family deliberating and are discounting roid rage. I'm not so sure. I'm not expert but he killed each in a different room and himself the next day. That makes me think that he was storming through the house on a rampage killing his family as he found them and when he came down from his rage he saw what he had done and took his own life. I'm not expert, but I think that fits the facts better then the other theory.

you should check my previous post, i believe i liked to the dozens of cases of fox news not only putting an incorrect spin, but being outright wrong about the facts.

yes, all news stations put a spin on their news, but i think fox is one of the worst about reporting incorrect facts all together

this one is a part of their piece on hezbolla having nukes:

personally, i like reuters, but of course, like you said, those with the power of the masses will obviously twist the news as they like. i just think fox is one of the worst ones out there

oh, and paintballfiend, there is a difference between being desensitized, and showing insensitivity.

Benoit is garbage for doing what he did, if in fact he did it. As it stands they can only take guesses as no one actually witnessed it. With that said, I respect his career, but roids probably got the best of him.

I could dedicate weeks to reciting the inaccuracies of every major news paper, nightly news cast, and cable news program. Fortunately, with the exception of things like the Dan Rather AWOL story, most of these inaccuracies are unintentional and (escpecially in the case of 24 hour news channels) cleared up pretty quickly. Fox regularly corrects itself relatively quickly. One of the big programs for accuracy in journalism is the rush to get something on the air first and nobody is immune to this.

The reality is, it happens and it's going to continue to happen. Iy typically isn't a case of a deliberate attempt to misinform or cover something up, it's usually a case of relying on a source and being wrong.

To assign motives to one network but not the other really only shows that your mind is made up regardless of the facts and that you've staked out a partisan position and not an informed one. I guess there's nothing wrong with that, but it's always nice when people admit that's what theyare doing rather then hiding behind cherry picked facs designed to fit their already formed opinion.

I also love the post codemning Benoit for killing his son but saying nothing about killing his wife. What, once you get your driver's license killing you is no longer morally objectionable?
Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

                        True dat

the local news down here was saying there were only 6-7 firefighters missing the night of the Warehouse fire here. But as we now know, there were 9 missing.

The news rushes to get stuff out without checking the facts.

The reason many people think Fox News is so biased is because EVERYTHING ELSE is so biased. When every other news channel is liberal, of course a news channel that goes a different route is going to appear so radical.

I gave up on trying to get this thread liberated from the hijackers.

                          Hmmm....

Over the past weekend, authorities said, Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself with a weight-machine cable in the couple's suburban home. No motive was offered for the killings, which were discovered Monday.

I'm glad you liked it. I mentioned the son only perhaps because I think the death of a 7 year old boy is tragic. Yes the death of any innocent person is, including Benoit's wife is also tragic. It was not an attempt to ignore Benoit's wife, but merely an attempt to highlight a tragic situation people were making light of. Don't read too much into what you did not read.
