Hello AO! I'm fine and safe in Iraq now, at Camp Anaconda which is northwest of Baghdad. The LSA is a major Air Force base that recieves material for the various military branches...yes, it's VERY busy and noisy here!
Fairly safe too, only the occasional daily mortar or rocket attack...nothing major. Some small arms fire comes in, but they never hit anything anyway. We have good chow (when the convoys can get through), and full up PX (when the convoys can get through), and two swimming pools...well one really, since our Air Force dropped a bomb into the big Olympic sized one, but they are fixing it.
Don't believe all you hear on the TV or newspaper, this country was totally crapped on until we came here, and now there is more electricity, water, schools, food, teachers, doctors, hospitals, universities, and personal freedoms than EVER in Iraq's history...and remember, this is where history began. The worldwide coalition stopped 3 seperate genocides from being completed by Saddam; the bedouins in the east (he drained the vast marshlands to force them out), the Kurds to the northwest (poison gas and systematic assaults), and anyone who questioned his or his sons authourity (torture, public executions). Not to mention plenty of documentation to connect this country with Al Quaeda, REGARDLESS of the amount of involvment. 3000+ people died in America because some people in this world don't like us, and Iraq helped to propagate their murders. That's enough for me.
Hope all is well with everyone, and the game is still good for all. I sure miss all of you guys...AND gals (Hellooooo Clare!), and can't wait to see all my Nor-So-Cali buds again!
Just to pass around, here's my APO:
