AO VA day, you pick time and place VOTE

Ok, we have tried this before, but they have always fizzled out ahead of time.

First we need to pick a place for the event.

Centraly located fields:
Splatbros (45 min south east of Richmond) www.splatbrotherspaintball.com
Paintball Authority (15 min west of Richmond) www.pbauthority.com
BCBG (40 minutes north of Richmond) www.bcbg-paintball.com (across from kings dominion).
TMX (Fredricksburg/Luisa) (hour and a half or so north of Richmond) www.tmxx.com

Northern Fields:
Pevs (3 hours or more depending on DC traffic north of Richmond) www.agpaintballgames.com


Western Fields:
Skyline (don't know 3 hours? west of richmond)
Painted forrest (no clue)

Eastern Fields (beach area):
Master Blasters (2 hours east of Richmond)
Action Town (1 and 1/2 hours east of Richmond) (running water and toilets!)


If you have anymore suggestions for fields i can add them into the running

After we decide on a location we can decide on a day, i prefer sundays and if we do it on 1st or 3rd sunday of whatever month at splatbros:

$10 field fee, includes air. Team practice Sundays are BYOP and are closed to walk-on play. Teams are responsible for providing their own reffing if needed.

this is the best deal by far and if we have enough guys out there i know Don wont have a problem with us doing this. We then can either be in our own group or perhaps practice against other teams (not walk ons).


some additional info on the three fields i know best:

Paintball Authority www.pbauthority.com is in powhatan which is about 20 minutes west of South Side Richmond. This is a good field, has great grass turf and multiple air ball fields (including this years Muddy-Mardi Gras Xball field). The only down side is they are a little bit pricey. However, i know the owner as does asian and he is more than willing to work out a paint deal if we get a large enough crew. They usually only do 3k fills, but do have a ram (they workers are usually unable to hook it up though).

Splatbrothers paintball www.splatbrotherspaintball.com is about 45 minutes south east of Richmond in Hopewell. this is also a very excellent field. It is the home field for several teams including aftermath (div 3 xball) and home field for Ronn Stern www.ronnstern.com. Ronn is the famous paintball artist and a great friend to Tom Kaye and of course shoots a nice emag. Ronn is also great friends with Josh Silverman (the crazy jew of paintball 2Xtremes magazine). Donn Hager, owner of splatbros is a good friend of mine, and i know that if we get a decent crew together we can work out a paint deal.

They have excellent UA fields, 80+acres of wood fields. and i think they have an Xball field. I haven't been there since december, and i know they are supposed to have it by summer, so they might have it now. They also do 45k fills

Also, if we do this at Splatbros, i bet we can get Josh to come down there and do an article about it. So you could even get your mug in the best paintball magazine out.

Finally, the best located field, but a poor field is BCBG paintball (www.bcbg-paintball.com). they are right accross from Kings Dominion (and everyone knows where that is. They are right off of I-95 so they are easy for everyone to get to. Their prices are cheap, and you can bring your own paint. They do have a ram so they can fill to 45k. They only have two little fields (one woods and one hyperball). Both fields pretty much suck, but the people are friendly and prices are good.

so you guys vote for the location, and then respond with the date you prefer. The earliest i think we should do this is July.

I am pretty sure Rey and Jamie got this setup so it is running all the time. If not im sure we/they can set it up for this great event. I voted Paintball Authority, obviously since im on the team, but my next choice would be Splatbrothers. Last time i was at splatbrothers the field was all dirt which made for a bad time for slides/dives. First = PBA, Second = SB, Third = Pevs.

Is there a search feature here on the boards where you can search people out by location? If so we should all PM them and give them a heads up..

that thread is a roll call for all the AO-VA guys that i could find a few months back for this exact reason. That way once we put together an AO-VA day we could just pm them.

Pevs is by far the best, but I cringe at the fact that its as north as you can get. But im afraid the rest of the state is going to get owned vote wise

I think splat brothers is a lot more centraly located, but its gonna depend on the time and place as to how far I can travel to an AO-VA day, I do agree that a sunday would be best for me and I may be able to talk a few people into coming with me........
as far as dates go I have no idea.....just starting a new job but I am pretty sure its a monday thru friday type schedule...........
