It's a good thing I spent some time there tho, cuz I found out that the case of 6month old field Blaze i brought with had become as bad as BE paint. I counted 15+ breaks(not chops) from balls that are way too small for my .689 Snapshot. After buyin a case of Bigball for $35, I found out that it dropped straight through too(guess it's time for a .687 back
), but it shot much better too. I was also hoping to test out my ne Hyperflow courtesy of kxpaintball, but Vet's day along w/ USPS ground screwed that up. I also found out that my revvy lid had broken at the hinge(BE pos!!) & I had to by a new one for $55(cheapest hopper they had
)!
,& finally reinsert. This time, we're going for the airball. I get there & I see a blue on my side behind one of the tacos. Suddenly, there is a flurry of electro fire & a blue in the woods goes out. Another guys tries to creep up on him & is shot. 2 more go & the guy in the taco shoots & is shot. I'm crawling up on the black mass in the woods when a red pops out from the far side taco. It's all I can do to look at him before he soots me. COMMUNICATE PEOPLE!!!
Well, I decided to skip an insertion & take a small break. Clean up, have some water, a hot dog, more BSing with Korrosion. I think it's about this time that a red comes off the field & proceeds to ***** him out about the fact that there's no 10 foot rule & ppl are shootin hot & refs should chrony & tag every marker with nail polish(NAIL POLISH!! no thanks, man..) & he's the Safety Officer for the local National Guard or Reserves or something. I'm asked to give them some time, so I figure I'll go back in.
) but I'm still doing my part. I move up to the bunker closest to the left corner. After a few minutes, a blue runs to the left corner from the center. I'm trying to give him some cover when a red pops out of the tower above him & shoots him when my marker decides to not fire(FS screw, grrrr......). After a few more mins, I'm outta paint, but I stay in to see what I can do. I hear some talk of a charge, so i scrambled to a small ridge a few feet in front of the fort. While I had their attention, the rest of the blues moved up. Another few tense minutes go by as we clear the fort. There is some left to right friendly fire & a blue goes out. We thought we had them all out & a blue runs to change the flag, & recieves some fire from a hidden red. The blue made it to cover & the red is shot. We finally took the fort as it was getting dark & ended the first game. Score, BLUE: a lot RED: diddly squat.
There were a lot of complaints form reds about how they were sick of defending the fort, but that was no fault of field design or poor reffing, they simply sat their..butts in that fort. It was a well run event, especially considering that they had a large private group & team practice going on at the same time. This was also my first time at Badlandz, & I must say, I like it
I'll definitely be there again next time, & I'll stay for the WHOLE the next time too
so i'll try to get the pictures up later tonight.
