lately, paintball fever has led me to start looking for a new gun. right now i own a 2k3 vert feed wgp cocker, all stock. im thinking about either selling it and using the money to buy a mag, or just flat out trading it for a mag, whichever way gets me a beter deal. the general setup im looking for to start with is a minimag with a right powerfeed body and an intelliframe. how would you guys say mags shoot compared to tippmanns and cockers? i play a lot of woodsball and barely any speedball. do you think a setup like this would be good for me? id lke to hear from some woodsball mag players. also, is the rt valve anything like the rt on a tippmann? ive heard it has an effect similar, but what exactly does an rt valve do to the trigger pull of a mag? any help would be appreciated. thanks!
so i might be getting a mag....

Comparing a mag to a Tippmann is quite unfair. They're both mechs, but that's where the similarities end. Mags have much less kick, and are much simpler to disassemble and maintain. They don't have as many cool body kits as Tippmanns have, but that's just aesthetics.
Compared to a cocker.... mags and cockers perform very similarly. Cockers require a lot more tinkering, though. I actually prefer the feel of how cockers shoot, but I like the simplicity of my mag.
As for the RT effect.... an RT mag is kinda similar to an RT Tippmann, but the firing is much more refined, consistent, and fast. It just feels better, plain and simple. If you can get an adjustable air tank, you can sweet spot the trigger and get 20+ bps out of your RT mag, which can be useful if your field allows it.
If you get yourself a minimag with a right powerfeed and an intelliframe, I personally think you'll be very happy, especially for woodsball. -
sounds good. assuming the deal i have with my cocker right now goes well, ill have $200 to spend on a new gun. what im trying to do is try out a few different kinds of mechanical guns before settling on my final gun, which i will likely upgrade the hell out of. so far ive owned a tippmann 98 custom and a cocker, but id really like to play with a mag. there was a nice ule minimag with a dye frame at my local shop for $215 a while ago, but i didnt have the money. what are some reccomended upgrades for mech mags? i play woodsball and dont fire fast to often. i dont have a lot of money for paintballing either, so i sadly dont see a lvl 10 or x-valve in my near future. a thought i had this morning was to get a warp left ule body and a q-loader. q-loaders can be used with the warp bodies, right?Comment

Keep an eye out in the BST section, you might find a better deal than $215 for instance http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=224944 note this is a link i found in the bst i dont know anything about the sellerLast edited by Coralis; 01-12-2008, 02:57 PM.Comment

sounds good. thanks for the advice guys, i really appreciate it. how does a powerfeed minimag body looka long the top? i know its a powerfeed body, but does the feed tube get in the way of mounting a sight and getting a clean line of sight down the top of the gun? pics from a back or front view would be nice
here are my plans as far as upgrades go...
starting out with a minimag with a right powerfeed body, then getting a sight rail. getting a vertical asa and foregrip, and then an intelliframe. i will run 2 macro hoses instead of 1 long one. if funds allow, i will look into getting a special ops air-thru sock, a q-loader, and a marp left ule bodyComment

I'm not sure if there is really such a thing as a ule minimag.
The minimag body is certainly not ule.
A dye frame is one of the heavier frames.
The only part that could have been ule'd would be the rail and even that wouldn't be too noticeable.
I'm just telling you this as a heads up.Comment

I'm confused. Do you want a minimag or do you want a ule bodied mag? You can't have both. Well not on the same gun at the same time.Originally posted by The Ethanator

What parts do you want to be a minimag? The only thing that makes a minimag a minimag is the body and the valve. The valve is the exact same as a classic valve but it says mini on it.Comment

Ummmmm air tank? I tried using my classig valve with co2 and it was not pretty. plus if you are going for the q loader and sight rail it seems that you want to be snipery, so air is a must! Also, stocks are not all they are cracked up to be. I have a tippmann 98 with a m16 stock and i took it off after a few games because i couldnt sight. when I got my mag with an air tank and moderate drop foreward i found that I could sight really well and snap shoot alot better. I am not saying that the specops stock would be bad or any thing, but think about it, you could get a steel airtank for what it would cost. Also if money is tight the single trigger will still let you shoot plenty fast for woodsball. A freak barrel is also a good idea, i got one and it is insane compared to stock, i could actually hit things

great, now i feel like a noob lol. the mag at my store was labeled as a ule minimag. the valve had 'minimag' written on it, and it had a ule body
the setup that i want is just a minimag with a right powerfeed body, until i get some upgrades on itComment

Another few days on AO and you will know more about mags then most store owners.Comment

Classic/minimag/air valves are the only mag valves that will work with co2. But that doesn't mean they love liguid co2.Originally posted by DanManUmmmmm air tank? I tried using my classig valve with co2 and it was not pretty.
With the right setup a classic valve will have no problem with co2.
For example. If ethanator gets the mag he dreams of and uses it as it was meant to be. He will be running a co2 tank vertically off of the vertical asa that minimags orginally came with. Keeping the tank vertically will keep liquid from entering the gun. It is also best not to have the co2 tank filled completely. This way you have a little extra room at the top of the tank for the liquid to turn into a gas.
Now if you want to run a co2 tank horizontally(sp?) then you are going to need to take some further precautions. Expansion chamber or stabilizer. Anti siphon tube. Coiled hose.
Honestly if you are planning on upgrading it later. EX: (pnuemag, emag, ego mod, spyder mod) then you might as well bite the bullet now and get a hp compressed air tank.
If you are planning on getting an x valve then you definetly will need compressed air.Comment

i have 3 co2 tanks, but i just got a 47/3k nitro duck tank for christmas. so i think im covered. also, can the rail, sight rail, and vertical grip adapter thing on a classic rt mag be put on a ule body or a powerfeed minimag body? im workin on a few deals with people, but specifically 2 nice looking rt mags. im not sure what its called, but i know theres the sight rail, the rail between the body/frame, and then theres another piece extending in front of the rail where the grip mounts off of. what is that called? and would i be able to put these parts on a ule body? what about the valves? and if you disable (or at least turn down as much as possible) the reactive feature on an rt mag, is there any performance difference between it and an a.i.r valve?
im really looking forward to owning out a mag. although ive only seen one in person 3 times (xmag at my local field, ule mag at my local store, and a specops q-bow that a friend let me shoot), it appears that there are infinite possibilities with mags. the q-bow shot well, although at the time i didnt know it was an tac-one underneath. they look like they are fun to play with, and i havent seen 2 mags upgraded that look exactly alike. theres so many differences its almost dizzying. and considering that i 75% of the people i play with hadnt even heard of an autococker until i started playing with them (yes, they are all speedball freaks
), i doubt they will have any clue what im shooting once i get a mag
