I have an mech x-valved mag with a ULT that always fires once whenever I screw in the air tank (850 psi). What's the deal?

Normal...Originally posted by ghost flankerI have an mech x-valved mag with a ULT that always fires once whenever I screw in the air tank (850 psi). What's the deal?
Best I can tell you is this... the trigger don't work when there is no gas. When the marker is off gassed there is no pressure pushing down on the back of the sear to push the catch of the sear up to catch the bolt.
When you put air to it, the air goes down the bolt just before it makes it down to the on'off pin to stop it from going. It shoots once and then latches back.
Hope it helps. Mine does it as well. Not all of mine but one I know for sure always does.
Best way I know to answer...
Normail, make sure it's unloaded or pointed safely before airing up. Of course that's a good policy to follow no matter what the marker.

this also can mean the sear is getting worn or something is out of tune. I see it alot in mach mags that have the quad oring in the on/off top.Comment

Yep, you should always hold the trigger when gassing up a mag.Originally posted by TwilightGI think holding the trigger while gassing it up should help but always be safe about it too.Comment

I have the same setup as you x-valve/ULT, and it fires about 75% of the time when I gas it up. I tryed holding the trigger, safety on, screwed tank in slowly, etc. It will still fire. I think it has something to do the the ULT on/off being open and the position of the sear when its gassed up, I could be wrong. I just make sure to hookup tank first then add ballsComment

it has nothing to do with the way your sear is adjusted...
This happens in every valve/marker using a ULT...
Can't explain it.. It just happens...
welcome to mag land... I make sure my mags unloaded and wearing a condom before I go ahead and gas up a ULT equipped mag.Comment

I think it just means your bolt is more free to move than your on/off, and/or your pin length and bolt catch 'margin' are just that thin. Sometimes the pressure required to first pop the bolt is less than the pressure to first push the on/off down. The bolt starts out free and the on/off is usually fully pushed up past the firing position.
Keeping everything clean and oiled helps, but you always have to plan on dealing with it one way or another.Comment

I have had this "issue" since day one with my Mags, never thought too much of it as it has never proven to be a safety concern, my gun is always unloaded and the barrel plugged before I gas it up.
It would be nice to EXACTLY why it does it though... Mr. Kaye?Steve Shuey , Team Crimson Reign

I've had several mags over the past few years and only one Tac One I had would fire when gassed up. It did have an X valve w/ ULT. Holding the trigger in when gassing up did help alot.Comment
