awesome idea there C.J., anti vehicle sentry mmmmmm, extends the line of thinking a bit.

all the other points are noted, and have been spoken about here and elswere. i agree, is should be constantly manned, with a trip switch, and that deactivation target is also a good idea, with the position on the front of the "rocket launcher", if it is shot, then it is out, for as long as the "engineer" is out as if he was painted himself, and then he has to resett it.

      80 bps?

so lets say, in a fraction of a second, a quarter of a second is your reaction time, thats 20 balls. TWENTY balls, say we have a medium range shot, so only 11 hit your head. If you have your head turned to the side, or more specifically, if it hits your skull, where its not protected. You will most likely get some sort of brain damage. Took the guy in paris 3 hits, think about 11.

Automatic Sentry guns are awesome in theory. Very reminiscent of the extended cut of "Aliens".

However, an automated sentry, regardless of ROF caps, is a HUGE safety issue. Essentially, it's 'blind firing'.

If a player were to trip while dodging this thing and lose his mask, twist an ankle, etc, the automated gun isn't 'smart enough' to stop firing due to a time out situation.

If it were to be supervised by a person who has a 'kill switch' is such situations, that persone would need to have an unobstructed line of sight down the sentry's entire firing lane, that way they can be sure it's not firing at an injured player that they can't from their position.

While I think it's uber cool. I would never want these on a field for those safety concerns.
