Nitro? or Compressed Air?

I am so confused, I was lookig at tanks and some tanks said Nitro and others said Compressed air. Which is best? Also whats the diffrences? I am so lost. PLEASE HELP ME.

Its a common question for first time buyers, nitrogen & compressed air is basically the same thing. you can put compressed air in a nitrogen tank and vise versa.

in paintball nitro refers to compressed nitrogen
hpa (high pressure air) refers to compressed air
and if everyone always paid attention in science class though the years we would all know that nitrogen accounts for over 74% of the air you are breathing right now.....

so for paintball there is no real difference except that nitrogen is usally a dryer gas where compressed air will have more moisture.... and compressed air is usally cleaner as it must be of breating quality for divers and many of us fill off of them....

What a bout the psi of the tank. I saw a compressed air tank that was 450 psi, could that hold nitro. also, with a 3000 psi compressed air tank, i could fill with nitrogen. Which is best for a classic mag?

Same thing

Nitro and compressed air are one and the same thing. Nitro is used because it sounds cool and because the air is MAINLY nitro. The tanks are filled with the same air that we breathe from scuba tanks. There is no such thing as filling a tank with just nitrogen.

The air we breath is 80% nitrogen, so thats why people call it nitrogen. The oxygen percentage in what we breath is actually relativley small. Its actually a good thing, because if their was more oxygen, the atmosphere would basically catch on fire.

hey jackel, the 450 psi refers to the output pressure. while 3000, 4500, and 5000(new) refer to the maximum fill pressure. most tanks that screw into an asa are set at around 800-850 psi. non screw in tanks are usualy out put ajustible. which means that you can change the pressure that goes to the gun. if your in the market for a tank i would suggest a crossfire tank because they are cheap and very simple to use. hope this helps.

Also, i have a 68 classic mag and i and getting ready to get a nitro tank. Some one told me that first i must get a new piston or something. Is this tru and if so why.

as far as i know you dont have to change a thing on your gun to run hpa. i would on the other hand suggest getting some K&C trouble free oil.

it doesnt do any thing super special like give you free elves but it will keep you marker in good condition.

Actually, My field uses "just nitrogen". I think they "rent" the tanks from one of those gas companies, once a week they come and replace all the tanks with full ones.

Pressure

What is the lowest pressure that is capable of use for a nitro tank on a classic mag. How do you get it to that pressure

i would suggest no lower than 800 psi. any thing less than that and you will get low performance. just starting out you dont need to worry about an ajustible tank yet.

i also get my tank filled at a gas company and it is all nitrogen.
