velocity adjustment

I am having to turn my velocity screw all the way in to chrono at 270 anybody out there know whats I can do to fix this. just rebuilt the valve with a oring kit from ansgear. gun shoots great no problems all day except the chrono issue.

Were you having this velocity problem before you rebuilt the valve? I suppose it's possible that one of the o-rings you got in the kit was defective.

I doubt that's the problem, though. The velocity is controlled by the piston and spring pack in the back of the valve. It's more likely that one of them have worn out.

Or your HPA tank isn't putting out enough psi.

This isn't a rental valve, is it? I think those were milled differently so they couldn't exceed 270.

A few questions:

What type of valve is it, a classic valve, or a retro/X valve? Did the valve and gun combination chrono above 270 before? Have you changed anything on the gun, such as the barrel? Is it a stock velocity adjuster, or an aftermarket adjuster? Are you running a level 10 bolt?

Didn't chrono it before I rebuilt it I was told it sat for a long time without being fired so first thing I did was rebuilt it and lubed it. And yes it has field rental stamped on the side of the valve and its a 68 automag classic. what part of the valve is milled different and can I change it out. I'm running 800 psi output pressures. Gun is all stock from what I can tell. Thanks for the quick replies guys. other than chrono gun shoots awesome.

That's as high of velocity you will get out of a rental valve. Cant change anything on your own and probably not worth sending to Luke for a drilled out fix.

The rental valve has a restriction in the powertube. It prevents higher velocities. It also prevents the use of a level 10 bolt. You can have the hole enlarged by drilling it out. It then becomes a normal classic valve.

when your looking down the tube past were the oring sets for the pt spacer is that what you drill out

You can pick up a standard valve for 30-50 generally. Probably not easy to drill that without proper tooling, and generally would cost as much to send it out most likely.

ill be trying to drill one out later this week when i get some tools for my mini lathe. ill post the drill size.

it's a simple job with a cordless drill and whatever drill bit fits into a normal valve. just be sure to get all the chips out. putting grease into the flutes of the drill will help catch most of them.

By looking at the diagram AGD has on there web site I found were they added the restriction drilled it out in about 5 sec, just matched up the drill bit up to the tube size and then went down one size on my bit drilled it out problem solved. Thanks for the help.

i dunno, how much paint do you chop? if that's not a problem for you, then you won't see much difference. the level 10 bolt is anti-chop, so it's good insurance. it can still hit the paintball hard enough to damage the shell depending on how it's tuned, which would then result in a barrel break as you tried to shoot it.

i think spend some time with the gun on the field, and then determine what, if anything, needs to be changed or adjusted.
