    ok

i used to have a m98, one ball breaks, they all break, dont care how cool ur squeegie looks.

    mags are just reliable guns.

ok here it goes. the model98 is a lot bigger than any mag. the m98 is designed for outdoor fields, i would not suggest using one indoors. the m98 is made out of plastic, and is not nearly as upgradable as a mag.

but if that doesnt convince u, go to a field doesnt matter what type, and play a round w/ a mag and another w/ a m98 trust me u will be able to notice the difference

Just my thoughts about the two markers.

        M98 Good
The 98 is a good marker to start with, they are made with alumanin(sp) not plastic and can be run over by a car and still work. They have a ton of upgrades to make it better, and a bunch of parts to make it pretty. You would be amazed to shoot a 98 with a electro kit installed, with the input pressure around 400psi and the electro set at full auto/12bps without a chop is a sight for a 98.

        The Bad
The 98 is long, heavy, kinda ugly, and the barrel sucks. The cvx valve is not the best out there but works great with co2. Some of the upgrades like the electro kit cost to much.

        Automag Good
You get all the best parts out of the box (except the barrel). The marker itself is like 4" shorter the a 98, but with the same size barrel it's only 2" shorter. "Intelliframe" what else can I say. "Warp Feed" when you get used to the feel it's the best thing out there.

        The Bad
Stay away from non AGD parts and you wont have a problem. Not alot of upgrades, but hey think of all the paint and feild time you can pay for.

Either marker is going to work for you, the mag is a better choice if your going to be playing for a loooong time, it's just so simple to take of. Myself, I have both a mag and a 98, love them both, and use them a equel amount of time.

I've owned both, and besides what dogemedic said, the mag has alot less recoil. A 98 kicks hard enough to shake the balls loose in the hopper, a mag won't. Now if you are running in the woods taking a couple shots here and there, it won't matter. But if you are sitting in a bunker trying to put shot on shot to hit the corner of a guy's hopper, it makes a huge difference.

I dont think any model 98's were made of plastic. Ever since its inception they were always made of cast aluminum.

I think the m98 is too heavy and awkward to play with. A Mag is short, lighter, easier to play speedball with(my opinion), however a mag needs a motorized hopper, there is simply not enough recoil to un jam the balls. Shoot a mag, then decide from there.

                    plastic on m98/c98

Only plastic things on a 98 I can think of are the rear sight, std shroud on the flatline barrel, the trigger, and side cocker modification.

The Mag valve also has a regulator which the Tippmann does not. I don't know why no one has pointed this out yet. Because of that the Mag will be way more consistant than the M98.

a well maintained mag will be more consistant. If you are going to shoot a couple hoppers and throw the thing in your truck until next week (i know a guy who does this), the tippman will run better. If you clean it up, replace your reg seat once in a while, and don't freeze it up, the mag is much more consistant, from my experience.

                          ..

so mags are more consistant - thats one. im still not convinced. i have a m98 and i dont find it to be too long or anything, very comfortable when playing.

Go to a field and ask someone if you can shoot their mag on the chrono range.

A Mag is simple a more reliable gun that will not break and is very upgradeable more so then the 98. A Mag can easily become a high end tournement marker. Gettin a mag is a great way to move up, a much better choice then an autococker or something. Automags are simply affordable quality guns with amazing possibliites for improvement, and it makes the most financial sence too.
