that's true, red only means relitive strength, red is stonger than blue, but not all red is equal...i use red (i'm pretty sure 270) and i don't ever need to heat it up to take things apart

I wouldn't say that's true either. 545 thread sealer is a red-blue color.. and it has a breakaway of ~2.. where 242 (commonly called "blue") has a breakaway of ~12 and 262, 270, et al (commonly called "red") has a breakaway of 22+. If you stick to the realm of thread lockers, what you say may be true.

It's best to refer to Loctite's tech docs before using any of their products.. if you're familiar with their numbering system, you can tell a fair amount from the number.. but color is absolutely worthless when trying to determine how any given loctite product is going to behave.

use teflon that works great and it is easy. i used to rebuild regs. (Ox. nitro. ect....)and i use it all the time never a problem. if you use locktite make sure you use verry little.

545 is the only loctite that should be used in paintball applications.

I won't destroy threads (unlike 242, 262, and 270, and is rated to seal the type of pressures we're using (unlike 511).

Heh.. I just tend to read about the products I buy... especially loctite because it's so expensive! The purpose of my initial post was to curb the spread of misinformation. I'd hate to see someone destroy a perfectly good marker from using a high strength thread locker to assemble the gas line.

I'm currently trying to get the stock hose and fittings off my RT pro. I heated them under a cig lighter for about two minutes. Grabbed a wrench and pulled with all my might... now, the nut is round and stuck to my god damn valve.
